Great info, thank you! What about allelopathic chemicals released by the cover crops after killing? For me specifically I worry about killing rye at the wrong time when planting sweet corn. Do you guys know if there is a specific timing to avoid regarding the timing interval between the killing of the rye and the planting of the corn? Including potentially killing the rye after planting corn? Do you see any problems with that? Thanks guys.

I use a mulcher to break down the cover crop before doing some tillage in fall. What's your thought on that?

Im about ti start planting on about half an acre. I have been seeing a lot of cover crop growing and terminating but I havent seen anyone demonstrate how to prepare the space before starting the first cover crop. Do i mow the area and then broadcast the seeds? Do i use herbicide and then broadcast?(I hate herbicides by the way) or do i broadcast the seeds and then cut my high weeds/grass to give the cover crop a head start over the weeds (since crimping these weeds do not terminate them like if it were rye. Thanks
