Now, one of the most common questions after AC joint separation, “Is this bump permanent?”
Unfortunately, yes the bump is permanent unless surgically repaired. However, for the vast majority of AC separations (Grade 1 - 3) surgery is often not required as most people get back to high level functional activities without surgical intervention. Typical recovery time for return to normal activities after a Non-surgical Grade 3 AC Separation is about 6-12 weeks. For me personally, I was back to cautious trail riding by week 5. 🤯 Wouldn’t have believed you if you would have told me that during my first week of recovery.
What’s the point of having surgery to fix a bump on your shoulder when you have 100% shoulder function? In my humble opinion, there is no point, WEAR IT WITH HONOR, YOU EARNED IT!
