The video mentions that cutting out milk may contribute to calcium deficiency. Calcium deficiency is not a common problem, at least in the US. In the US, people are getting way too much calcium. Osteoporosis is not caused by lack of calcium but something else (e.g., lack of vitamin K).

"This research was supported by a grant from the National Dairy Council (USA)."

Not suspicious at all.

In the late '70s and early 80s I worked as a physician for 3 years in a remote hospital in Papua New Guinea servicing about 150, 000 indigenous people where there was virtually no dairy intake in these people who had recently emerged from the Stone age. I was impressed by the absence of acne, allergic disorders such as asthma, virtually all autoimmune disorders and the common western cancers such as breast, prostate, colorectal, pancreas and kidney. They had occasional viral mediated cancer of the liver from chronic hepatitis B and cancer the cervix from HPV as well as lung cancer from smoking.
I believe that dairy has adverse effects on the immune system due to ingestion of active immune messages meant for baby cows and the leaky gut that can be associated with casein A. During my practice in Canada I often found that patients with autoimmune disorders and allergies often did better by restricting dairy. I am very concerned about the cancer promoting effects of high levels of igf-1 which is already present in dairy and which is induces further Igf-1 formation due to the high protein content of dairy products and the up regulation of m-tor and PKA by ingestion of high animal protein foods. As found in the China study and Blue zones throughout the world rural subsistence farming with low animal protein intake is associated with low incidence of cancer.
I am very impressed with Dr. Stansfield's excellent and comprehensive summaries of nutritional research but would encourage him to re-examine his views on the adverse effects of dairy in view of the above.

I normally love your videos but unfortunately this time I'm not convinced! The main review paper cited here (Hirahatake et al. 2020) was funded in part by the dairy industry, which complicates the story a little bit. A more recent meta-analysis published in Nature Scientific Reports (Jakobsen et al 2021) found that high fat dairy intake is associated with CVD risk. Other reviews have noted that high dairy diets perform well relative to high sugar/red meat intake, but poorly compared to nutritionally balanced plant-based diets. Considering this, is it still fair to say dairy is always good except in cases of allergy, intolerance, or acne?

Idk why these videos don't have more views! Keep it up. You've changed how I approach supplements/diet through evidence based data.

At last! A balanced and fair look at dairy. Thanks Brad. There is nothing wrong with full fat dairy for people who are not allergic and are not lactose intolerant.

I see that someone already mentioned who paid for the study. I have had dozens of clients quitting milk products though some of them are still eating yogourt. Almost all of them are feeling the benefits. I think that it's very important to differenciate between fermented and none fermented dairy products.

just a quick datapoint - I love my kefir, and I am so glad to hear this research. I too was concerned about inflammation, etc, but kefir has been a lifesaver for me, mainly due to its effect on my digestion.

I Stopped diary products 6 years ago to try decreasing animal abuse and then I realized that my Psoriasis has completely gone and my skin is so clear and beautiful I’m so happy I made this decision the best decision in my life 🙏🏻

I've found dairy to be the cause of my athlete's foot and dandruff. If anyone is suffering from these try removing dairy for 2 weeks and see if symptoms subside. With me it's particularly the dairy fat, the protein is ok and I'm not lactose intolerant.

After listening to this video I can feel I'm about to do a lot of research on the potential links between PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome), female hormone dysfunction and dairy. I didn't realise dairy increased androgens.

Cutting out every molecule of dairy was the most important thing I have done for longevity. Took me a long time to figure out. I stopped having colds and flu after making sure no molecule of dairy ever enters my body.

"Milk" has many confounding variables! Is it from A1 or A2 cows (casein protein difference)? Are cows 100% grass-fed or finished on grain? How about goat/sheep milk (heard humans better tolerate its lactose and casein protein)? For lactose intolerance, try fermenting the milk so lactose is fed to bacterias, not us.

I usually like Dr. Stanfield’s work, but the studies cited here seem compare dairy to the “Standard American Diet”. Sure - eating high fat dairy may be better than eating Hamburgers on white bread. But what about when compared to beans and kale? The book “Eat, Drink, and Be Healthy” - the Harvard Medical School Guide to
healthy eating lays out the evidence based on cohort studies following people over years and the evidence is clear - dairy foods are not healthy. With one exception - yogurt does seem to have beneficial properties (probably feeding gut health). Take that for what it’s worth.

Dr. Brad, In the US, much of the milk and its products contain Bovine Growth Hormone; what are your comments on this additive?

In the journal Diabetes (1999) a significant amount of antibodies to bovine insulin were found in prediabetic children. It was also found that that these children also had antibodies to their own insulin suggesting cross reaction. (bovine = cows milk)

Many years ago I developed kidney stones, and my doctor recommend giving up milk, and my stones stopped forming.
I grew up in Central Europe and into my mid 20s drank raw milk without any problems. I didn't know what pastreurized milk was until I left my country. I suspect that pasteurized milk may be bad for health as good bacteria are killed with bad.
In my old country everybody drank only raw milk as only raw milk was available. It was sold in glass bottles with a shelf life of a few days. Nobody was ever sick from it.
