"How Much Dairy is Too Much? And What Kind of Dairy is Okay, and What Should We Avoid?"
Some quick thoughts from my last 3.5 years experimenting with dairy on carnivore.
I do think many overconsume dairy, and many agree it does slow down weight loss. Some even gain weight eating dairy.
But, as I always say, this is YOUR journey, and you have to find what works best for YOU.

Thanks for not berating the heavy cream user. I gave up heavy cream for two weeks to see if it would make a difference in my stall. It didn't. Cheese did. I gave that up for now. Never was a big cheese eater anyways. I have a lot of healing to do, that's my diagnosis. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Im a dutchy... and was drinking 2l a day of milk and so much cheese before i started dieting. Its like a coffee adiction and so much sugar in it. I only use buter at the moment and sometimes a little bit of cheese. But since i started carnivore this time only buter. And it feels good.

I plateaued at about 5 months on Carnivore. After tweaking things during the 7th month (eliminating the last whole plant Macadamia nuts, and reducing dairy), I've made some progress (now, 8 months in). I still use some MCT oil, but I'm phasing it out. Dairy consists of organic heavy cream with no additives (Skytop), an occasional 5 oz. serving of A2 kefir (only after a big Ribeye on an OMAD day), a slice or two of cheddar or higher grade American cheese once every week or two on my burgers, as a treat, with a tiny bit of Primal ketchup. I consider those cheats/treats. Most of the time it's just ground beef, Ribeyes, and NY strips (once or twice a month uncured hot dogs). All (except hot dogs) get a little bit of Kerrygold salted butter. That's the extent of my dairy. I'm putting less and less heavy cream in my coffee and it seems to be helping. I'll sometimes mix unsalted butter and heavy cream in my coffee, so I use just a little of each. I hope this helps anyone struggling with minimizing dairy. Now, the hard part for me is reducing coffee.

Good suggestions. I do think if someone has autoimmune issues and is handicapped by them they might want to transition through low carb keto to dairy free carnivore fairly rapidly. Then add back after three months strict carnivore. If they are looking for rapid healing.

What a great advice. I'm in for 6 months now and trying dairy for the first time. Gonna see if raw goat milk improves my energy level.

Dairy … milk and cream. I can’t seem to get enough. No issues.

L love 2% milk, and various chesses, Would lactose free milk be and option for me? As for cheese, I prefer soft ripened cheese like Brie, and a few other options. I LOVE butter, so no problem there. What are your thoughts on this?
Thanks

When I first started carnivore 2 weeks ago, the first week I didn't have any cheese. It was just meat water salt and sometimes a little butter. After one week I really wanted to have some cheese so I bought some hard Sharp zero carb cheddar cheese. Within hours of eating it, I noticed myself being a little bit more congested and having to clear my throat every so often. I could still breathe through my nose, but it felt like the passageway was more open before I reintroduced cheese. I have some whole milk in the refrigerator that might go bad soon, so I want to drink that tonight. After that is gone and all my cheese is gone, I'm going to really limit it. Because I definitely notice some negative differences. Another difference is plaque on teeth and dry skin on my face behind my beard, which all went away during that one week with no dairy.

I'm interested in the carnivore diet. I need to lose a lot of weight, improve my health and physical fitness. So far, I like what I hear.
What made you decide to take it up? How much prep did you do before starting? Thanks 👍

Goat and sheep has much less lactose and many of the cheeses are raw.

Been about a month into pretty strict (95%) carnivore, stabilizing and feeling great at 70! Initially energy was rather low.. I had to push myself somewhat. I found being physically tired just meant I needed to eat more. You body has different hunger queues when in ketosis. I eat only once a day, easily could skip a day. Good weight at 185, 6'1", very active physically. I'm hooked on coffee since starting carnivore.. thinking it could either be the creamer Lactose (Half and Half or Table Cream). Just found Lactose Free Half and Half.. giving it a try. Also could be the splenda sweetner, that's next. I should just quit drinking coffee, but trying this first.

Helpful - thanks. After watching this I realise that occasional cream has turned into snacking on cheese and yoghurt. Currently coming off caffeine so gave myself a pass to use cream to do that but think I need to dial it back in as seem to have inflammation in lower back… could also be due to not drinking enough after cutting back on coffee…
