Since Dooku uses form ll, Makashi, which is a form that specializes in dueling against other lightsaber wielding opponents he defiantly solos here. Plus he used to be Qui-Gon’s master so Dooku knows him and how he fights very well.

Qui Gon is one of my favorite characters, but his combat skills are not what makes him a great Jedi. It was his wisdom, his intelligence and his connection with the force.

The thing people don't get is that Dooku is incredibly scary. Regular Jedi would never survive a duel with him considering is form and the amount of control he has in the duel.

I don't know about force powers... Qui gon was able to stay alive in the force even after his death. He was able to communicate with Yoda and taught him and Obi Wan how to become force ghosts. All thanks to his deep connection to the Force. No other force user of his era was able to accomplish this.

It's funny when you think about it

Qui Gon prolly has a better chance beating Anakin than beating Dooku. Shows how strong the master-apprentice dynamic is in Star Wars. Not only is Dooku more powerful than him in dueling and in the force, but he was also Qui Gon's master, meaning he already has the advantage of knowing all of his moves. The match-up doesn't get worse than that

This is basically if Obi Wan was the Chosen One and Anakin was just a mildly gifted apprentice

If u looking at the backstory of Dooku and Qui-Gon before the Star Wars movie, it is very tragic than u all think. His student's death hit him hard.

Qui-Gon in his prime should also take agility and speed. That's what form IV Ataru which is his saber form is all about. I'd also argue that Qui-Gon possibly has higher IQ (but battle IQ does go to Dooku).

literally, Qui gon jinn was quoted as being the wisest jedi master, second only to yoda and being the first jedi to discover the secret of Immortality, becoming a force ghost. His connection to the force was absurd, in addition to his mastery of physical combat, he was not like dooku, but he was a great duelist. So this comparison was very superficial, Qui gon jinn would probably have a good chance against Dooku

some things to consider about Qui Gon losing to Maul:

- Maul was trained as an assassin (and somewhat as a sith apprentice by Sidious) and had been prepared all his life for taking Qui Gon out (he was the jedi Sidious feared most, along with Yoda); with the advice of Plagueis, Sidious and Dooku.

- In their first encounter, Maul reviewed Qui Gon's pros and cons in a fight; choosing a narrow corridor and a double saber in their second encounter. Of course, all the planning was also made by palps and friends.

- Maul was a prodigy and was, at the end of the CW, aproximely one level below Dooku, Vader, etc.

The truth is Qui Gon was as skilled with the saber as your average jedi master. Of course, he was more keen to diplomatics and communing with the force but I believe him to be somewhat between Ki Adi Mundi and Plo Koon in terms of power. He also had great mastery of the force.

Qui Gon's goal wasn't to become the ultimate warrior with the force and dueling, like dooku. His goal in life was to live with the force and follow its will to the end, like a true jedi. Apples and oranges man

I mean, Dooku is canonically known as one of the top 5 duelists in all of the saga, so he kind of easily dominates Qui-Gon to be honest
