Just as Dooku is about to escape, Yoda (Frank Oz) confronts him and engages him in a lightsaber duel. Unable to match Yoda's speed and agility, Dooku distracts his former master by using the Force to dislodge a large pillar and send it hurtling toward Anakin and Obi-Wan. While Yoda is busy saving them, Dooku escapes.

Being in the theatres in 2002, when Yoda pulled out his lightsaber the whole theater erupted in applause. Good times.

I like Yoda's combat style. It's him using the Force internally instead of externally to boost his speed and agility. It just adds to his mastery of the Force

Yoda is a terrifying opponent. The way he uses the force to bounce around all over the place like that.

The May of 2002 when I saw this film in theaters, when Yoda took out his lightsaber and went ballistic, the audience cheered and clapped. Epic moment.

Christopher Lee does such a great job in this scene you can see Dooku’s confidence just slowly drop the more the scene goes on. ITS SO GOOD

As a child of the 80's and the build-up through the years etc.. to finally see Yoda use a light saber, truth be told... I almost pissed myself in the theater... I had to pinch myself off.

I'll never forget this moment in theaters. I was nine years old and my dad took us to see the movie. When Yoda pulled out his lightsaber the entire audience blew up in cheers. Best theater experiences I've ever had.

To be quite honest with you, the moment Yoda jumps, screams, and their lightsabers clash is the most badass part of any of these films. The anticipation of the fight and the transition to a full blown all out duel very quickly is just overwhelmingly awesome. Seeing Yoda finally get to kick some ass is is just to cool….and his fighting style is wicked.

In the novels people have described Yoda's movement in battle to be impossible to follow and he was a blur to even trained Jedi masters. I feel this scene did a great job depicting that.

I like how yoda enter in with a stick all decrepit and all of a sudden he got the strength of a young Thunder Cat lol

My favorite detail about this scene is that Yoda is such a powerful being with the force, he doesn't even reach for his lightsaber. He just opens his robe, sticks his hand out and just uses the force to put his lightsaber in his hand. Certified badass moment in cinema history.

Yoda made the mistake of being honorable and complimenting Dooku before killing him— and it just gave Dooku a chance to escape.

The audience cheered when Yoda started spinning around like crazy

I love Dooku in this scene. At first there's some confidence when he's facing Yoda, but even then you could see his apprehension. The longer the force duel went on, the more you could see his stiff movements and shaky voice. When he finally resorted to the force lightning, and Yoda dealt with that just as easily as anything else, that was the last straw, and Dooku immediately switched the duel to lightsaber combat, which his style specializes.
Such a comparatively short scene, with few lines, but so much of the character's thoughts were so well translated.
