How To Do Hill Starts EASILY In a Manual Car | No Rolling or Stalling

Показать описание

Hill starts don't have to be scary, just practice and get confident.

Lots of videos over complicate how to do this, but in this video, we get straight to the important points.

Good use of the gas, clutch and handbrake will mean that you will do a great hill start every time. Rolling backwards could mean that you hit a pedestrian or another vehicle and fail your driving test!

Make sure that you speed up more than you normally would before you change up gears on an uphill because the hill will slow you down quickly. Use low gears to go downhill and use engine braking to keep you slow.

Hope it helps, if it does then please press the 'like' button as we'd really appreciate it!

This video is not intended to be a complete driving lesson on everything to do with driving on hills but just a brief explanation on moving off up and downhill.

Thanks for watching and good luck to everybody taking their driving test soon!

This is what I find most difficult 😂 I think it's just the fear of rolling back and doing it all quickly

Despite driving for over 30 years, I've recently become terrified of driving on inclines with traffic behind me. I always think I'm going to roll back into the car behind. Because of my fear, I tend to rev the throttle really fast (if that makes sense?) to make sure that I have enough momentum when it's time to move off. This fear is making some of the driving I do very, very stressful.

Chris, you first started teaching me about 5 years ago and I was a pain in the arse as I wasn't committed, then did another short stint a year or so later and gave up again. I was bought some lessons for Xmas (sorry they weren't with you!) and I passed my test on Monday, you gave me a good fundamental start and after watching the mock test with Jo, the night before, it really helped. The videos are very well produced and I hope that the channel does well for you, as it is all perfect, clear and useful information! Thanks!

After watching this video MANY times, and taking my test today with lots of hill starts, I passed first time!! Thank you very much for posting this and your other videos. They've been a great help. 😀

Do you know what... that was the simplest way of explaining it I have ever heard. I really struggle with stalling the car when doing a hill start so I hope this is going to help me. I have a driving lesson today so will be giving this a go. Thanks!

I thought i was so confident on hills, would rarely roll back (one month driving stick) Until i met a monster hill that was almost twice as steep as this hill. It put me in my place as i rolled backwards quite a bit. I needed above 3000rpms to slip the clutch and get moving.

This was fab, thanks! I took a break from lessons because of work but once I started them again, my hills starts were appalling. This video is so straight forward and now seems like common sense to a learned driver!

I had no problem with hill starts in the diesel I learnt in..now I've got my own car (petrol) and it's very difficult

Thanks! Good and short info! I bought my first car. Moving uphill I got my car installed at a lonely place. I watched this and was successful on third time. Pedal brake method needs more practice and finer control of brake and accelator, this is best for beginners.

No wonder I kept struggling doing an uphill start, because I lifted the clutch up all the way. Great video!

This channels content is very helpful, I watched a variety of this instructors videos to help me with my driving. I'm pleased to say I passed first time with only 1 minor!

I still keep watching these videos as it's always good to revise even after passing. His voice is very calm and encouraging. Thanks so much.
