I am a 21 year-old engineering student from Madrid, Spain. This is unbelievably helpful.
What a wonderful time we live in, that I can listen to a top-notch neuroscientist talk about perhaps the most important topic for me in this particular moment in my life.
And all this from the comfort of my bedroom and for free.

You, Sir, are one of a kind. God bless you and love you

Wow. I've been so ignorant of my culture, which has inbuilt certain fasting days. Day by day I more and more am falling in love with Indian culture. Great info.

As a 17 year-old student here in the Philippines, I'm beyond grateful for this opportunity to acquire such knowledge in early life.

Knowing this crucial information at a young age gives me more power to redirect my life in the best possible ways. I could not believe myself for gaining so much knowledge, listening to first-rate neuroscientist sharing the ways I can improve my life. Cost-free. Indeed, what a magnificent time to be alive, where we can access this sort of knowledge in the comfort of our bedroom, where professionals are out there dedicated themselves to studying profound ways to alleviate humanity's problems, and sharing them with the mass in a way that we can digest easily.

To this channel, thank you for uploading this (even tho is not u), this video literally found me and decided to change my life. For I know that everything happens for a reason. I promised myself to optimize the lessons I learned. Strictly. I probably would go back and update this comment every 2 weeks, to see some changes in my health.

GOOD LUCK TO Y'ALL!!
May it work in your best terms.

I made an interesting observation wrt fasting and performance.

I mountain bike on the weekends, and usually I’ll have oatmeal with a banana about 1-2hrs before the ride.

During the week I’ll intermittent fast, but if I’m doing intense physical activity, I figure I need the energy.

One day I basically forgot to have breakfast, but was already en route to the trail. So I figured I’ll just ride casual considering I’m probably low on fuel.

When I got home and looked at my Strava results, I hit an all time personal best (and that’s compared to times set when I was also 10 years younger). Not just by a bit, by a significant difference.

I was like wow, that’s interesting, what was different? Just the skipping of breakfast. So then next week went for another ride, though intentionally in a fasted state — and made another personal record.

Clearly not a very scientific study, but an interesting observation. Made me rethink all the assumptions around eating patterns vs exercise.

why are all the comments bots?? lmao
everyone is saying the exact same thing: "amazing video, very informative, this is the most important topic for me in my life, etc."
so weird

Great video! I must say it feels kind of biased by not involving different perspectives about the claimed negative effects of fasting and a ketogenic diet. Just my thought. Not taking any credit away, but to introduce both sides of the discussion going on in the scientific would feel more balanced. Kudos to you for gathering this information and doing the work!

2:41 It is very clear from research in humans, not eating any food or ingesting any calories, liquid or otherwise, for the first 60 minutes after waking up each day, and for the 2 to 3 hours prior to your bedtime, that is ideal for weight, liver and metabolic health and so forth.

But the body and mind heals in paraympathetic mode, which is rly hard nowadays to get there, due to high stress, fear&anxiety, this is a double edge strategy that may work for some people.

For me, not eating for 20 hours straight is perfect. It controls my hunger. 5 small meals, on the other hand, is pure hell for me. A lot of people don't understand that. Fasting is a magic bullet against aging and for longevity. When will humanity understand this?

wow. I am a seaman and we work in 5 6 7 month contracts... When i work at sea our scedule is very strict. Wake up 7 30 work until 12 . launch, Then work at 1300 again until 1700, then dinner and thats all .and After 2000 duty on the bridge until 2400 . And i believe thats the reason i feel good .Ok besides the work staff and all the stress. When i m not working and i am were i live my programm is messed up...I wake up irrelevant hours. I sleep and eat irrelevant hours and while i do not do anything else. Not even work i feel messed up.
