At the opposite end, don't read if the desire doesn't come from inside you. Trust your subconscious. Adam Zagaeswski asks us to think of reading as consuming vitamins. Sometimes you want vitamin Kafka, sometimes Vitamin Tagore and sometimes you don't want any. Your mind will tell you what you need.
Reading is one of the few fruitless joys of our capitalist lives. Don't make it into another task with rewards.
