Instead of focusing on the number of books read per month/year or the number of pages read in a day/week, I focus on how much time I want to spend reading. So I commit to, say, 15 or 20 min a day. This allows me to relax, adapt my reading pace to the book I'm reading, and just enjoy the process.

I used to be a voracious reader. The internet wrecked that. Even now, I'm looking at a youtube on how to read rather than actually reading!

I used to be such an avid reader. This social media/youtube/tiktok age has def shortened my attention span for reading. I’m trying this method to get me back on track to more consistent reading.

I love how "messy" your logs are! I feel like so many journaling/reading log tracker videos are all super pretty with lots of effort put into making spreads and such....but that method definitely doesn't work for me. Definitely taking inspiration from your method :) I really like the mindset of "1 pg/day is about 1 book a year...so 2pg/day is 2 books, 3pg/day is 3 books...", I think that helps so much with motivation, because it shows that even a tiny, achievable goal builds up to a great outcome.

I am very busy with two jobs, so my strategy is to read 10 pages of 2 books each day (10 in the morning and 10 in the evening). This isn't a lot, but this allows me to read 2, 300-page books per month, 24 in a year, 120 in 5 years. Sometimes, I add in a 3rd book if I can, but I think some people burden themselves by saying "I"m going to read 100 books per year" and they never do. Also, I have stopped choosing my books for the year because my moods and tastes change. I choose them at the beginning of each month. Thanks for your videos!

Dude you cracked it! So many years, so many books, so much "I'll start tomorrow". Now I'm reading/studying 80-100 pages a day 🤓💪🍺🍻🍻🍻🍻

I use a monthly calendar and write the pages read in each square, and color code based on book. Goodreads is good for keeping track of books read but not for daily reading, so I use my monthly calendar for that. That motivates me to update the calendar and thus, to read 😊

Last year, I started a goodreads reading challenge, started as 'read 5 books in a year', ended with 23 books read in a year. This habit continued into this year, I think so far I've read 27/30, I'll change the end-goal as soon as I surpass it, adding on 5. But it's helped a lot.

For the month of August I've actually been doing a reading challenge and using a method similar to yours. My goal this year was to read 36 books, but as a stay-at-home mom with a toddler, it's been really hard to make time to read and I'm so behind in my goal. So I thought I'd try to read 50 pages minimum every day for the entire month of August, to see if I could make some progress. I set up some rules and rewards to help me get through it and it's been going really well!

These are my rules: First, anything goes (fiction, nonfiction, e-books, audiobooks, rereads, etc.) Second, I can't get ahead. If I read 100 pages one day, it won't count toward any future days, I always start at zero each day. Third, I am allowed to catch up. If I miss a day, then I can read extra to make up the day that I missed (but so far I haven't missed a single day!)

For my rewards, I set a main goal of completing 21 days. If I complete 21 days, I get to buy a small digital something, like an app, a movie, a discounted e-book, etc. And if I get a 100% perfect month, then I am allowed to buy a physical book! I've already passed 21 daya so I'm planning to buy an app for learning Japanese. I'm just a few days away from having a perfect month, so if I can make it I'll be buying the next book in the series I'm reading. 😊

For recording my progress, I use a blank calendar in my planner. I've mostly been reading just one book at a time, just for the sake of making it easier to track pages. Each day I write the title of the book I'm reading in that day's calendar square. Since I read in short spurts throughout the day (mostly during naptimes) I wait until the end of the day to record my pages. I write the final page I read to under the title, and then I use the previous day's page number to calculate how many pages I read and write it at the top of the calendar square so it's easier to see. If I read 50 pages or more, then I'll use a marker to add a check to the square. It just makes me feel good about my accomplishment lol. All together, it kind of looks like this:

+52
Book Title
-read to page 102
✅️

So far with this challenge, I've managed to read 7 books this month and I'm working on an eighth. It's been tough to keep up with but I'm really glad I tried something new. I think going forward I might not read 50 pages every day, but now I know that when I make it a priority and make an effort, I can make reading a daily part of my life. 📚❤

I read around 80-90 books a year :) it's my favourite hobby.

For me personally I cant really read a specific page number each day. Because then I just focus on reading pages instead of reading the book, if you know what I mean.
As soon as I start counting how many pages there are left for me, I realize that I dont really soak up the information anymore.
How I deal with that, is that I sit down and set a timer for like 40 minutes or an hour and just read. Doing that twice a day gives allows me to easily read a book a week

I remember when we first met in Mayaguez, before I became a Christian, you were an inspiration to me wanting to read more. Now looking at this, I want to use pocket notebooks and vlog/blog! Keep up the good work, Parker!

I just came across this video and whist watching I thought how refreshing to see someone wanting to use pen and paper to log something and not wanting to use a device. Great idea and I’m going to start doing this. I love reading and do so every day, but I think doing this would be an enjoyable thing to keep track of.

I loved this video. I had never thought of setting a daily goal. Since I am a beginner, I will set a goal of 5 pages. Love the idea of a daily log. I’m off to read my 5 pages!

its really inspirational to see how small your actually read pages are in a day. some days you have 5, some are 14. it makes me feel a lot better as someone who can only handle maybe 4 or 5 pages in a sitting.

I did a reading challenge for this year. It was to read 50 books for the year I've already passed that I'm at 60 now. I also read multiple books at a time . I like this system. I do Goodreads as well but I'm a paper and pen type of woman. So I'll give this try. Thank you for this video. Enjoyed it very much.

Me too. I love books. And don't get me started on ebooks. Just love holding the book in my hand, physically turning the page and completing the last sentence. Love love love books.

Instead of reading how many pages or how much time i spent i just hyper focus and get myself lost in the book’s world, it feels like the book is actually my best friend and telling me a story or a wisdom it really deepens my connection to my hobby
