Osmosis vs Reverse Osmosis - Explained Animation

Показать описание
A simple and straight forward animation about the main difference between osmosis and reverse osmosis.
Basically, in osmosis, the water molecules travel naturally from a less concentrated solution toward the more concentrated one until the osmotic equilibrium is reached.
The reverse osmosis, on the other hand, it is artificially obtained by applying pressure to the concentrated solution. In this case, the water molecules travel from the more concentrated solution toward the less concentrated.

In my book it is written that osmosis is a process by which the molecule of solvent(water) moves from higher concentration to a region of its lower concentration through a semi permeable membrane but u said the opposite of that for osmosis

If it's this simple, why don't we have plants in areas with no fresh water to process sea water into drinking water?

Doesn't explain what makes it better than normal filter. Is it the membrane? Why not use the membrane in Brita.
