This is the ultimate tomato soup recipe and one that I come back to time and again. It's made with simple ingredients, and layered with fresh flavors that will carry you through any season.

This tomato soup is a personal favorite of mine (and my mom as well!), and a true ode to my love for tomatoes. It's easy to make, has good depth of flavor, and doesn't have added sugar. When it comes to homemade tomato soups, it's hard to beat this one!

00:35 Chop the celery, carrot, onion, and garlic.
01:39 Saute the veggies in the pot.
02:05 What type of canned tomatoes are best for tomato soup? San Marzano whole peeled tomatoes!
02:17 Add the tomatoes and broth, then simmer.
02:58 Make the parmesan crisps.
04:04 Blend the soup with either an immersion blender, or transfer to a blender.

Thanks for recipe. I try to convert classic like this to very low salt. My mom had 10 kids and in 50s she'd make canned tomato soup and put it in my thermos. What great memories. I can see my Lone Ranger lunch box as I write this.

I roasted fresh tomatoes and garlic as a substitute for the tinned tomatoes, and it really took it up a few notches. Love this soup with the tomatoes both ways, delicious x ❣

Made this last night! Oh my goodness it is so easy snd downright delicious! I did use 1/2 cup of cashews in the blender to give it a creamy texture. Another hit Lisa!

I have to try this one. One of my favorite quick meals as temperatures go down: a bowl of tomato soup with one hard-boiled egg cut in 4, shredded cheese and croutons. Yum!

The San marzano tomatoes are the best-I’ve got on the stove cooking a veggie soup -now I want tomato again -YUMMY-and I love the idea of the cheese crisps-definitely making these too-

Also, thank you for knowing that "rib" is the appropriate term for one part of celery. Most people these days say "stalk", which is actually what the entire bundle is called. Words matter.
