I have been playing around with the beta, and got to say it is amazing so far. I can see why Cranford, creator of Bard's Tale, gave a resounding mark of a approval for the game, cause it really does feel like a bard's tale game in every important way. Great job.

I like what I'm seeing. I LIKE WHAT I'M SEEING!Also I love the inventory, it's basically Might and Magic VI-VIII, together with analogue movement we finally have another analogue dungeon RPG in the style of the previously mentioned MM6-8 and Wizardry 8!!! @_@

Is it stealth rock or toxic spikes at 1:33 ? haha
Very cool concept, much more visual clarity in combat than RTwP or Legends of Grimrocks pure real time.

*BARDS TALE 4 REVIEW* - I already own a copy of this game I bought the $74.99 Platinum Edition.
I have completed all the game has to offer upto the first boss in the first dungeon, at which point the beta trial ends there before you can fight him.

► *PROS*

- The game is 100x superior to the original style Bards tale games, as far as the terrain and dungeon crawling graphics go
- sound effects & music is really nice
- pretty much all quests in beta are narrated, so thats nice

But that is about all I like so far

► *CONS*

- Almost every door, hallway & room in the beta had a puzzle you had to solve to open a door, and continue forward, I think WAY WAY too many puzzles and not enough fights.
- I don't like how you cannot make a team at the start, you can make 1 character and find the rest as you play
- the character creation is very very limited, very very basic
- the magic in the beta all the way through, even when my mages were lvl 8 or 9, SUCKED REALLY BAD, almost not worth have a mage in the group.
- Fighters in the game sucked pretty bad also, so did the bards, the best charactrer I had who hit harder than either the mage or warrior, was the Rogue.
- inventory management of loot is bad and needs improvment
- magic is really stupid in the game, your mages can't do anything until they build up spell points for each spell, meaning they have to meditate every 2nd round to build up points to use 1 spell,
and in most fights they die while they are meditating as the enemy hit so hard, at lvl 9 my fighter had 20 health, my mage had 12-13 and the enemy would hit for 5-15 points per hit and you usually fight 4 or 5 at a time.

luckily you can drink health potions in this game or you would never win a fight, only problem, drinking a health potion uses up 1 of 4 attacks per round.

you get 4 action pips per round, anything you do takes 1 pip, drink a health potion, meditate, move around, leaving bugger all to fight with.

- you cannot just attack any of the 4 enemy in front of you, they have to be standing in front of you and close to you to attack, and the enemy mages casting more minions stand in the back, so hard to kill them.

combat in this game is the worst I have seen in an RPG, no fun at all.

*overall I give the game 2/10, hopefully the full release is better*
