Honestly there's probably more but these are some personal standouts. You don't have to take these to heart. Not every one will relate or benefit from them, this is just things I learned along my journey.

You do a really good job of never making the audience feel like we're being "talked at" or lectured. You communicate from a humble, honest place which is greatly appreciated; especially in this community.

realizing that I DONT have to spend hours in the gym was such an eye opener for me, now I know you can do 4-5 exercises within an hour or so and get in a great workout
the sound effects are hilarious btw :p
Balance is definitely key, fitness should add to your life not take away from it!

Love being called out about the 1200cal diet, lol! Seriously, I'm in the same mindset right now about not eating and as much as I know I have to, I'm still restricting... and as much as I know that isn't good... I'm still struggling to eat.

It's a constant internal battle, and I really appreciate you calling it out. It helps.

i worked at an eating disorder treatment center for a while and i wish people talked more about these types of things -- there are so many misconceptions about fitness and body goals and talking about them is so important

She’s such an inspiration for me, like my cool older gym sister. Makes me feel safe and comfortable.

The last advice made me feel really emotional because I struggle a lot with having a "healthy adult" lifestyle. As someone who has been working full time home office for the last 2 years, is really hard for me to have healthy habits but I'm trying my best; not only I go to the gym, I started going to the psychologist and nutritionist, I work full time I also I take care of my house and I do the cooking everyday and sometimes It stresses me out trying to keep this habits because all of this takes time and a lot of effort, both physically and mentally. Hearing that is ok to take my time is really comforting for me. I really like your videos and I love that you are so chill and cool Patty, thank you for sharing

Thank you Patty. I am just starting out in this fitness journey, I have been doing IF for 4 months already, and started the gym just a couple of weeks ago. It's so refreshing to hear a realistic and humanistic advice from someone as experienced as you are. Keep inspiring.

Something I noticed recently is the people that are more experienced in the gym have surpassed the phase of being disciplined and making themself go to the gym everyday. They go because they really just love training and lifting the weights. Obviously discipline still plays a role on the difficult days but if you struggle going to the gym and really can’t get consistent with it then just keep going and trying different things. People are naturally supposed to want to move so if you hate the training aspect of fitness there is probably an underlying cause. You may not be eating enough, sleeping enough, or just be doing something negative to your hormones (like birth control). Just keep showing up and learning and you will find yourself addicted to training like me. The hard part is everything outside the gym. The gym is like safe vacation where all problems disappear.

One of the things I really didn't take into account when eating was tracking calories and macros. When I was 18 I would always skip breakfast and just eat meat and vegetables for lunch. Maybe I would have an apple or some fruit as a snack. And finally my dinner would always be a protein shake and a protein bar. I only realized I was under eating when one day I went to the bathroom and just passed out out of nowhere. My take is : always track what you're eating, because the worst mistake you can do is under/overestimate food

Hello Patty! I just wanted to say thanks for this video. I had bad asthma as a kid and almost never exercised . Had an ED as a teenager. Now i am a med student and I am just soooo underweight. Failed my specialty exam.. twice. And felt like such a failure. You inspired me to try and overcome this and also to try and get in better shape. So this video helps tons. Lots of love. Take care <3

The period thing is so true😭 I lost mine 10lbs ago and it really is not great at all. I never felt happy, lost interest in everything, no energy, bad skin and my hair kept falling out. Once I gained some weight, it came back and I felt like myself again and my confidence has boosted significantly 🎉

Coming from a young impressionable girl I really look up to you you're awesome thank you for all your goofy videos and more serious ones like these. I have been considering quitting martial arts lately and I kind of feel the same as you did after quitting gymnastics this is really helpful I didn't realize how much I needed to hear this. Really rad stuff! P.S have you ever thought about naming your followers slim jims? Just a thought

Hit home with the first tip. I started losing weight by reducing the crap I was eating. Fast food, soda, anything I thought was crap. Dropped about 15 lbs. Loved the results so I started OMAD. I love eating once a day and don't suffer any hunger or weakness. My job isn't a desk job but it's not construction either so it works perfectly for me.
It wasn't until I dropped about another 25 lbs doing that, went from 215 to 175 over a three year period, that I noticed that I couldn't get rid of the little fat around my stomach. Time to start exercising. As I started doing simple push ups, incline walking on a treadmill, and the like, that fat was still going nowhere but I was getting more toned, not good enough. Time to weight train. Before I got to that though I wanted to make sure I was taking in enough protein, so I started logging all my calories and macros.
I was shocked to discover that I was taking in less than a thousand calories 5-6 days a week. SHOCKED! I wasn't experiencing any fatigue or weakness, I still looked muscular and hadn't lost any muscle mass that I could recognize. But my metabolism had slowed to a crawl. I started taking in as many calories as I could while eating healthy and only OMAD. I was eating over double what I had been, 1700-2400 calories and I started actually losing weight. I dropped to 170.
So yeah, you have to find the sweet spot for calories that still allows you to keep your body out of starvation mode and then becomes the exact amount of calories you need without going over what you need. And this is all before you start to really get into weight training or exercise. I'll be honest, it's WAY harder than I thought. Taking in even 2000 calories on OMAD is a struggle most of the time. The high calorie foods are all crap lol. That's why everyone is overweight though. Eating too much is very easy, eating just enough is hard and you might not be able to know what that is without seeing a professional because everyone is different.
Anyway, sorry for the rant but it was a trap I fell into. Love the tips and thanks for uploading, love your personality and content. 🥰

I think you have one of the most important points of view in the fitness community currently. Thank you for sharing and thank you to others commenting.
I believe and I have find it most healthy for me both physically and mentally to focus on the process.
I remind myself frequently, "Focus on the process, love the process, the goal is just something that happens along the way."
It seems like hyper focusing on an outcome just has greater potential for let down and/or reverting to the way home is before once you achieve the goal.

Thanks for all the advice. Appreciate you showing us your point of view. A lot of times once we get focused on our fitness journeys we try to take it to the extreme. Rarely does that ever benefit us. It may only increase our chances of falling off the wagon.

This seems like priceless advice for people coming from disordered mindsets. And I say that without judgment and as someone who can relate on a lot of levels. It bums me out that these things aren't more obvious, but I'm glad this content is here for so many people it's helping
