As a former owner of a BMW Z4, I can relate.
I now own a silver Miata GT.
A shined up silver car looks luxurious (expensive), doesn't show dust/dirt so easily, and hides rock chips and scratches better.

My black on black Cadenza hasn't been too bad. I recently started paying a detailer $20 to wash it once a week, I keep it garaged and drive my old car back and forth to work. I'll be sure to get a ceramic coating for the next black car I buy. I live in Mississippi where the summer heat can be unbearable, but the 15% window tinting and reflective sunshade helps tremendously.

Ealy 2000's I had a white Mustang GT, 2003 traded it in for brand new black GT. 2 things I know from experience, granted also my own objectivity... 1. Black cars can be the most beautiful on the road. I would clay bar and polish with Zaino Bros and that car looked like liquid, so f'ing good! Problem was that keeping it that way was near impossible. One splash or pothole, even the tiniest light sprinkle, and it didn't look bad it looked like SHITE. THAT was the 2nd. Black cars make me sad.... so much potential, but ultimately unobtainable
