A small fender bender damaged my car while it was parked. My insurance company ( a well known national company that we have had since the 70's) said I was 20% at fault. I asked how could that be as the car was parked. They replied that the car was hit because it was there. With the deductable, they paid NOTHING. What a scam. Thank you Scotty... words of wisdom as usual.

I'm on my second car. The first one, I spent a lot of money taking it in several mechanics who ripped me off with bad service, and one of them even swapped my original headlight for a second hand one, which I only noticed 1 year later when It started to fade to yellow, whilst the original kept clear. Now, I won't make that mistake. My car WILL NEVER SEE A WORKSHOP! I'm doing all the maintenance at home, I'm learning a lot of new things, It's fun, and I'm sure that I'm using the best parts and doing it right! I bought a used, low mileage, with full maintenance history, japanese sports car. It runs like new!

9, 000 dollars a year for new car owners. Forget buying a new car. I've been buying used Honda's and Toyota's for the last 25 years. My 3, 000 dollar Honda lasted me 11 years+.

People must buy new cars for us to buy them used, otherwise they stop making cars.

If the state forces us to buy car insurance, the insurance companies should be forced to lower our rates when we drive accident free.
I've had 3 million accident free miles @ 40 years.
Why am I forced to pay $1000 a year, still ?

Scotty has the advantage of being an industry insider to find deals, has knowledge, tools, the ability and desire to work on cars. Me, not so much. I bought a $5, 000 pickup. Another $5, 000 in repairs over two years and about 6 weeks in the shop, forget it. After seeing the prices and financing on late models, I bought new and I have no regrets.

I decided to live expensively and buy a new car. I don't know any honest mechanics. Every time I find an honest mechanic shop, the management at the shop changes, and they bring in crooks.
