Thanks for sharing your career journey. It makes me reflect on my current job and makes me question why I tolerate the long hours, thankless efforts and lack of career growth. A lot times, poor and toxic managers can be a big reason why people leave their jobs. I hope you find a good team and management that supports your goals and recognizes your amazing contributions. All the best.

It seems to me the cause of the burnout was very much the corporate itself. ❤It only has itself to blame. No one can sustain >9 hrs per day for months on end - without getting burnout symptoms. I personally think It’s sort of like stealing - expecting people to do overtime as though it’s normal hours - if the company isn’t paying extra. And even if they do pay - it should Only be saved for emergencies and be controlled. I think if someone is doing it somehow successfully for long periods, it’s likely because of Adrenalin and stress. I listened to a podcast about the personal cost of burnout - for instance you may get so burned out you can’t continue in a career and have to retrain which could be a huge cost. Also to stop working for periods / or go part time which reduces income too. You shouldn’t have to do that for a job to feel healthy really.

I’m happy you’re posting and better feelings, I would say its not necessary the industry but the ‘some’ people in management of your previous employer. There should be another employer with better ‘people’ in management that actually consider you as an asset.

so happy to see you posting more short form content! (obviously I love love love your longer content, but I know this was a goal of yours so I’m glad to see it happen!!)

Exactly the same as when I quit my previous job. I took on more than 10+ side projects a year during the course of my last two years there. I worked 24/7 and completely lost work life balance, and simply burned out and quit.

You only burnout, when you do something, which you dont like to do. So maybe... think about the essentials of your job. It is good to stop before it gets worse. I have seen it with many of my colleagues. And often it is not (only) the job, but also the administration and organization around the job itself. Good step you have done!

My advice to most young employees right now is to not leave their current dream jobs until they have a signed, secured new offer somewhere else. There’s nothing worse than going months without a way to pay the rent, because new opportunities are never guaranteed.

5 years is a long time for millennials or zillenials (all
The 95 to 2001 kids out there) - how come they did not promote you again in that time I don’t get it. What did they expect that you stayed 10 years in the same area before they gave you something and getting you overworking
