Why do I post both about history and urbanism?

From the very beginning I never intended on being purely a history account.

Why? Well, I believe that learning history in the context of our built environment is a way to gain a deeper understanding of our cities.

History doesn’t happen in a vacuum. It’s informed by how we build, plan, and support our structures. That’s why I choose to educate on those two topics concurrently.

For me history alone doesn’t satisfy me, I need to know where that history took place and I rather be there walking through those spaces, and taking you for the ride.

I’m aware that not every story I tell may seem directly connected to the next one, and sometimes it may feel like I’m covering things randomly.

But by learning what appears to be disparate topics via varying points of view is the KEY to keeping an open mind. An open mind allows us to see connections where they weren’t obvious before.

Hence why a video of housing might be next to a video about the history of skyscraper that is next to a video about a waterway. Before you know it, you’ll see a city like New York in a whole new light.

So I will keep posting the videos about history, secrets, and intrigues from the past ALONG with stories about housing, urban planning, and infrastructure.

The Intersection between Cities and World History is amazingly profound!
Currently, it's estimated more than 55% of world population lives in cities and is projected to ump to 68% by 2050.
...also, if reviewing history throughout human existence, the overflow of cities and depopulation of vast rural areas has been followed by civil unrest and environmental issues.
CAN mankind today LEARN from the PAST... and possibly avoid repeating disasters of decline?
