Remember that you don't have to completely remove a single use product from your life. Simply finding ways to use it less is a great thing. So many people I know, including myself, get frustrated trying to live totally zero-waste, but that all-or-nothing mindset is ultimately what leads to them giving up all together. Do what you can, and realize that sometimes your sanity is more important than avoiding paper plates. The goal is to be conscious and aware of how your consumer choices impact the environment. In the current economy, being "zero-waste" is nearly impossible, but don't let that stop you from limiting your waste.

For those of us who definitely still need conditioner, try conditioner bars (no plastic bottle).

The two reasons I continue to purchase paper towels:

1) cat puke/messes.
2) oiling cast irons & cutting boards. Those get composted after. I'd prefer not to put oily rags through the washing machine.

We buy them from Who Gives a Crap. All other messes I use their compostable swedish cloths.

Happy to give them up if anyone has alternative suggestions!

Fabric conditioner. Since I gave it up my washing machine is better and stays selling fresh, the drawer doesn't mould and my clothes are better. Not to mention that fabric softener runs £5 a bottle for the decent stuff. Replace with 30ml of white spirit vinegar.

The conditioner thing is so weird! I always used conditioner because I have really long hair (it goes down to my butt) and I couldn’t stop using it because my hair would get so tangled and the brush barely went through. Then I stopped using it (don’t remember why) and after a while my hair got used to it and now it always feels like I used conditioner even though the only thing that touches my hair is some random shampoo and my brush 😅
