SO excited to share this year's video & list of 10 things i'm not buying in 2024! this list of things i stopped buying as a minimalist was so fun to make (and i'm actually SO excited to share my video on things i'm investing in this year - the list is gooood and i'm so excited about it). these things i dont buy anymore are all things that certainly hold value, but for me, they don't hold enough value to make sense.

in particular, things i stopped buying to save money are items like 1, 3, and 4 - all things i'm truly not being benefitted by owning. i'm really excited to keep exploring minimalism and money and financial minimalism this year, as well as ways to save money & sharing more of my minimalist journey!

hey gang!! thanks so much for being here & watching 🤍 wanted to add a quick note just because i want to be super mindful of finance videos as i know it can be kind of a tricky topic. in no way is this video intended to shame certain purchases/categories, or project my goals/things i'm working towards if they don't resonate with you. intentional living is such a personal thing based on your values, and this is just my way of trying to share ideas/resources and things i'm doing to hopefully be more intentional with my spending this year! ok that's all love ya <3

As far as non physical gifts, I feel like gift cards are so underrated. I bought my sister an air bnb gift card. It was a perfect gift of “experience” and it will help fund a vacation instead of adding clutter to her home :)

In a prosperous society where there is material abundance, people tend to confuse their wants with needs. Learn the difference between the two and you will be far better off spiritually and financially.

Present day economy makes living below your means seem impossible but it is still very feasible. Money is just a tool, use it to create the life you want

One thing I've learned this year is that while I don't think I'm a huge impulse buyer, when there is something I want I have trouble being patient. When birthdays or holidays come around, I have nothing on my wishlist and family just buys me random things. I want to be more patient. When gift-giving occasions come around, I want to just be honest with people about what I want. (and if I don't get it, I have to save up or wait until next year!).

You are so wise to recognize that people your age want their dream life NOW. It means so much more when you work up to it. Also, I raised my kids in a home with things that wouldn’t upset me if they got messed up. It was as stress free as new parenthood COULD be.

I love what you said about not having your forever furniture/dream home at 24. When we were first married at 22 we were so mismatched in our house. We had a hand me down couch, no kitchen table and chairs for awhile, a bed, a bookcase and kitchen supplies from wedding gifts. We’re now 15 years in and we’re just now having some things that should stick with us for the long haul. It has saved us a LOT of money and saved us lots of frustration bc, yes kids can be pretty artsy on many different types of canvasses, let alone normal wear and tear 😅

This past Holiday my partner & I bought our loved ones “experiences” as gifts, this was fun because we were able to join them on a couple of the events and not only was it something to look forward to but it was a bonding experience for us all!

Accepting that my "now" home will not be my "forever" home has drastically changed what I spend my money on for decorating our home. Also, me thinking that my house has to look like it's in a magazine when realistically it needs to have function, be free of clutter and peaceful for my husband and I. Abandoning the 1000% aesthetic all the time mindset has saved me thousands.

Non physical gifts like inviting someone for breakfast/lunch/dinner, a massage, a therapy session, an experience outdoors like hiking and bringing snacks or a gym class is also a great option. Over cluttering really messes up with my head too, up to a point where if something is not in its place or there's a bunch of things on top of the counter, I just need to clean up for my mental health. Some people may not understand, like my mom, but honestly, it helps me with my peace of mind.

Cheers to you being 24 and being this mindful - I'm going to be 25 next month and often feel very behind the curve but your videos have been super encouraging & genuine & helpful. Thanks, friend <3

I love the gift conversation! I personally hate giving and receiving gifts, I would so much rather just have a fun experience together. It’s good that you told people in advance that you prefer to not receive physical gifts. It’s just so tricky because I have some family members whose “love language” is gift giving (and receiving) and I don’t want to offend. 🙈

Around the holidays, food gifts are great minimalist gift ideas. My mom gifts people all year round goodies from her garden!

You are going on the right direction for a young women. When i was in my younger year I spent so much money on luxury purses, quality furniture, and clothing. Now that I am 55 finally
realized that I waisted so much money on unnecessary stuff. I'm in the process of going minimalism, it feels great not to have so much stuff around the house. Decluttering is so easy for me!

Display your mugs! I also had many mugs (some were sentimental, some had been gifted, some I just loved) and didn't want to get rid of them, but also hated how much space they took up in my cabinet. So, I bought some inexpensive vinyl coated screw-in hooks and arranged my mugs in a line down a narrow strip of wall in my kitchen. Perfect solution.

I would love to see a video on non physical gifts! I decided to thrift gifts this year, but that also sounds like a good option for me.

A few years ago I noticed I had many mugs… the way they look like clutter or when I see one I want to use and can’t reach or find one I haven’t used in a while… well… I decided to purge them and also to group them by season to be able to rotate them. I store them in small boxes and now it takes me like 5 minutes to get “new” cups for the season. To me, choosing a DIFFERENT mug every day is a part of my morning routine and I enjoy it.

I needed to hear this! Especially the ending. I have been really struggling with the whole what I can and can’t buy thing because I often find myself buying things when my mental health takes a turn. Hearing you say that actually it’s okay to go against these rules sometimes really helps me not feel alone! It takes so much pressure off so thank you ❤️

I would definitely love a video about non-physical gift for people! I too try to have less and less stuff at home, and I know many of the people around me complain about having too much stuff (though they rarely do anything about it lol), so non-physical gift ideas would be great

This was very inspiring! I made a list of my own:
• Furniture
• Dog-Stuff (not food obviously)
• Horse tack
• Tech (especially not a new Apple Watch)
• Cooking utensils
• Kitchen devices
• Shoes
• Clothes
• ebooks that are more than 99ct ( I enjoy physical books more and I have like 20 unread ebooks, but sometimes they are really cheap)
• Plants (I have plenty)
