I find it so frightening how literal children are being influenced to want to buy makeup and skincare products. It's not made for their skin!

I can only imagine how many Stanley cups second hand stores are accumulating and will accumulate

A friend of mine I suggested she start a plant exchange on FB. Basically people propagate plants and just trade with each other. 😊

I am so glad you mentioned botox. I´m 49 years old, and I love beauty, but I try to celebrate beauty my own way. Proudly showing my grey hair and wrinkles. I almost died when I was 36 years old, so to me getting older actually - and honestly - feels good.

i appreciate your nod to those of us who opt out of trying to look younger. i haven't dyed my hair or had any "work" done (no judgement, honest) & people are always shocked when they find out my age (58); across the board everyone thinks im much older.

the reason, i think, is that so many people have opted-in to looking youthful that we've lost a realistic frame of reference. this saddens me. i'm in great shape, dress well, hydrate and eat healthfully.

having a bad knee and a bummed hip stinks, i don't think i rock. but i am glad i am modeling for my (adult) children what an un-touched boomer actually looks like

More on fabric softener: it coats the fibres of your clothes to make it feel "soft", which is pretty bad for a few reasons. 1. if you use it on any athletic/active, linen, or cotton clothes, it will make them completely non-breathable, because it seals the small holes in the fabric, and hence ruins them. 2. it also coats the inside of your washing machine, and it's a leading cause of machine breakdowns! 3. their heavy synthetic fragrances can be very irritating to children/sensitive skin in general. If you still feel like you want to use something to make your fabric more soft, add a bit of vinegar to your load!!

I love that you saw lines in your face and were like "oh cool new milestone". That's EXACTLY the neutral reaction we need to these normal changes! Normalize getting older! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I love the part about Botox. I think it is so important to talk about how much consumption and spending is generated by the idea that going through changes in life and growing old is something that we need to prevent at all costs, instead of embracing and celebrating. At 43, I have quite a few gray hairs and also a few wrinkles, especially around my eyes. Like you, I am not saying I'll love them forever (or maybe I will), but I am embracing the changes and celebrating them as proof of the life well lived I enjoyed so far!

I am convinced you would like the type of mistery box i'm getting: It's a box with quality orgabic fruits and vegetables from a local grower. It motivates me to try out vegetables i've never cooked with before, try new recipes and Cook more from Scratch in general. Also: If there is something in it i really don't like or can't eat (i'm allergic to seleri), i gift it to my parents or friends. So far this works very well for me. 😊

There are natural mica deposits in the area where I live. I don't do glitter but I can't tell you how much I love getting my shoes, legs, and pants coated in natural glitter whenever I go on hikes.

I really don’t understand the Stanley cup hype either. They don’t even look that practical and easy to clean, and who needs to keep their drink cool for 48h?? If you haven’t finished your water in 48h there’s a problem lololol 😅

One rule I have for myself to help with more conscious consumption is to never buy something to cover up an insecurity, or rather to never let a company profit off of my insecurity.

Just a friendly reminder that botox is also used medically and the medical protocol calls for (in small part) some of the places where people would get it cosmetically - the other 50 injections are not in the cosmetic zones and many cosmetic zones are not covered by the medical protocol. For serious pain, it's been such a blessing for me and I haven't even considered getting botox in the places cosmetically that don't get touched in the medical protocol. As a medication, it's just wonderful.

I'm simply not buying any new clothes or new shoes this year... I will thrift what I need in person at a local shop.

I totally agree everything you said, I have my anti haul list too and there are many similar things with yours. But as a food/chemistry engineer I must point that edible doesnt mean you can benefit from certain nutrients, edible means you can eat and it has no harm for your body. So ofcourse im not saying go and eat all the edible glitters out there :) but i just had to say it :))

I love your videos! I won't be buying paper towels. I've finally got my bf using used rags I got from the thrift store to clean up messes and clean the house. I never noticed how many paper towels he goes through. We have a rags bucket and clean them really well and reuse them! Keep the zero waste videos coming!

I bought a Stanley Lunch Box and a Stanley cup off of facebook marketplace for about 1/2 the original price. I didn’t get it for the trend, but the utility, the lunch box has become my traveling art kit for its durability (i might have knocked it off the side of a cliff once) and the cup fits perfectly inside for my cleaning water. Both have little dents and smudges of paint on them now and have so much character.
