What to Do After a Tick Bite - Johns Hopkins Lyme Disease Research Center

Have you been bitten by a tick? There are three key steps to take when you've had a tick bite. First, remove the tick. Tick attachment time is important. Removing ticks as soon as possible reduces the risk of infection.

Second, learn how to recognize the rash that follows the bite. It is important to understand that a rash is not always present or easily recognizable in early Lyme disease, and this can lead to delayed diagnosis and treatment.

Finally, if you are concerned about symptoms or a rash, take a picture of the rash and contact your physician immediately.

This video is 7 years old and things have changed regarding tick-borne infections. Errlichiosis can take just a week to move you from bite to the boneyard. How do I know? I beat the boneyard by 1 day. Easily cured by a common antibiotic. Left untreated it is a tragedy.

They fail to mention most family physicians don’t have a clue how bad tests are early in Lyme Disease

in my former country after a tick bite you take a tick to a nearest clinic where they test it for a lyme disease for free (my country also has a free healtcare system) and if it confirmed you get treatment.

I appreciate what you’ve offered here BUT other than mentioning antibiotic as an Early remedy you fail to outline the treatment regimen for later discovery- why?

Does anyone know what to put on actual long term tick bites that have been confirmed as Lyme? What is the best topical treatment? Any links or info also appreciated please.

Ive seen my doctor to see about my tick. They give me cream for my itch and tablet for the itch. She said nope we dont contract lyme disease with our ticks in the country.. 😂 no diagnoses. It will go down overtime she said ... I wish it were that simple. If i am dead i will not be editing this comment. See ya guys in the next life. 29/06/2023

Pro tip comes from a midwestern family get tweezers and heat them up extremely hot with a blow torch glowing red and grab the tick it will squirm and pull on it and it comes off way easier without getting heads stuck

I have had a couple ticks in me and they rake on your skin until they dig and hit blood, the feeling feels like you have wet cloths on and its rubbing your skin, so not painful but just annoying feeling, they are very very sneaky and work slow, i dug mine out I just couldn't stand it in my leg and one in my belly area! If you are in the woods I highly suggest you TUCK IN YOUR SHIRT AND PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR LOWER LEGS FOR BUG CRAWLING FEELING! I was out hunting yesterday and I started to feel that rubbing raw feeling I immediately went to the area and scratched with my finger nails and sure enough I caught that sucker trying to bury in my side, I made the mistake of pulling my shirt out from getting hot walking up hill! Those ticks are really evil and ruthless SOB's!

I had a tick on me about 4 to 5 days on my back. It was itching and I thought it was a mosquito but the head was in my skin . My daughter took tweezers and got it out. We sprayed antibiotic spray on it . Then used the ointment but it's been itching and swelling a little for a few days and yesterday I started feeling achy. Kind of weak and tired. I think I should go see my Dr.
