Pop_OS was the only distro that worked well with my nvidia laptop. They sell laptops with Nvidia GPUs, so it makes sense for the support to be really good.

I needed an OS to just work without a bunch of BS. Pop!_OS was it. Installed it and haven't looked back.

Pop OS is really awesome. I can't wait to switch to it once the new version of COSMIC comes out.

Pop!_OS is a great distro. I used it for 2 yrs straight. Longest I ever stuck with any distro.

I first tried PopOS after my employer purchased a system76 laptop about a yr and half ago however I already had another distro in mind, this year we bought a couple extra system76 laptops for more IT members and felt motivated to give PopOS another try. I feel so much more productive and not having to constantly update as much such as with Arch. I never had issues with Arch but feel like i would be more comfortable using Arch for personal use and keeping PopOS for work use.

Pop!_OS is solid and reliable.
It's not set up for modification and tweaking, it's set up for "It Just Works".
As such I recommend it by default unless someone has a really strange edge case.
The single biggest thing to learn from the start if you can is to put your /home directory on a different drive or partition, this means you can distro hop a little quicker if you want to.
Using Pop! has allowed me to get into other Linux distros such as Fedora immutables (Silverblue and Kinoite), Bodhi (soon to be replaced with OpenSUSE I think), and of course Steam (Deck) OS.

Hope you reconsider the terminal. Its actually amazing. I do everything in there from installing apps to file management to using a calcultor and many, many other things. Granted, I've been using Linux for 2 decades. But give it another shot. It might surprise you.

i used pop_os on a dual boot install for like a month, then 2 months ago i booted it up again and ran updates from the software store app built into the os. i had to restart, but then boom, whitescreen and error message telling me to contact an administrator 👍👍
i tried everything i could find to fix my install, but were never successful :/
i'm pretty sure this isn't a pop_os issue and rather a ubuntu / debian / linux issue, but damn that kind of experience is really discouraging

pretty cool video nonetheless man, i enjoyed it!

Actually the desktop name that PopOS uses nowadays is Gnome, the Cosmic is the new desktop enviroment that system76 is creating to use in the next version of PopOS

Unfortunately the Linux terminal is unavoidable. Eventually you'll run into problems, whether it's with the OS or programs, that will require you to solve them using terminal.

Pop os is good and well optimized but it depends on old version of Ubuntu lts 22.04 which uses old kernel, so i think if you want to be updated with todays world for gaming and other support arch linux is a way to go

It seems like a lot of Linux users are fundamentally opposed to companies and "making money". The problem is that a lot of software, requires people to work on it full time, not just "on their spare time" and thus needs to pay their developers. And nobody can pay developers without having a revenue stream. So some way, they need to make money. That doesn't necessarily mean that the developers have evil intentions, but it DOES seem like a lot of Linux users believe that to be the case. "If you're making money, you must be evil." But one doesn't necessarily follow the other.

glad you like it, it's a cute distro. I prefer a mor customizable distro personally, but it comes with a lot of issues, so it really just depends on the use case

I main Linux Mint. I decided to try Pop OS, because it's more stable, right? No. Never going back to it ever again. It lacks so many features, it's so hard to customize. The best part is, Mint has performed better with games than Pop for me. In fact, even base Ubuntu felt more stable. Never switching to that thing ever again.

Edit: I'd also like to say... Why is the taskbar so HUGE lol. Like, I know you can make it smaller in the settings, but that just messes up the icons. The developers really enjoy big icons it seems
