As someone who has lived in Mexico: I PROMISE none of my Mexican friends knew what queso dip was. I was in Oaxaca where they have quesillo, a specific kind of cheese traditional to that area. Queso fresco was also common. One day, the other American girls who lived in town had me and our local friends over for a party, and they made queso dip. I think only one of our friends tried it just to be nice, but they all seemed very averse to the idea of American "queso." 😂

TLDR: I lived in Mexico. Mexicans told me it is not native and they think it's weird hahaha
