"I Heard it Through The Grapevine" was written by Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong for Motown Records in 1966.
The first Motown bands to record the very popular song were The Miracles, Gladys Knight and The Pips and Marin Gaye.

Creedence Clearwater Revival did an 11-minute version of the song on their album, "Cosmo's Factory" (1970). Extended instrumentals!

The lead singer, John Fogerty, twisted words in his own way in every song, it's just his style.

The bravery to cover Marvin Gaye, and the chops to pull it off. Pretty amazing.

Bisscute is representative of spunkyness & energy that's not seen from younger people much. I would listen to her for hours just to hear her beautiful accent. She lives in the songs she interprets!. What a refreshing, delightful person

Snapping fingers involuntary means enjoying the song 😁I'll throw my vote in for the extended version.

They might be the greatest sounding band in the history of music.

That was a FUN reaction! They have so many songs that are great! I would suggest "Have you ever seen the Rain", "Suzie Q", "Run Through the Jungle".

"I HEARD it through the grapevine..." The word "heard" is typically pronounced "hurd" or "herd" .
John Fogerty puts a New Orleans (Southern U.S.) accent on the word, and it sounds like "hoid" or "haid" . The "R" sound tends to disappear.

Fogerty's songs often refer to Louisiana bayou (swamp) culture. Songs like "Born on The Bayou" and "The Old Man Down The Road" were big hits. Imagine hot and humid summers, swamps and wetlands, alligators and snakes, and a diverse population descended from the days of plantations and slavery.

this version was cut short- more jamming in the entire cut on album

I had the privilege of seeing them twice in concert. The first time in 1969 at the Denver Pop Festival and again in 1971 with Ike and Tina Turner at the Denver Coliseum. At the time they both had made a hit with the song Proud Mary. Both versions were different enough from each other that there was no real "who did it better". Both concerts were awesome to this still a teenager!!

Great Reaction Bisscute! What John Fogerty is saying he Heard a Rumor about the girl! Grapevine is the Rumor Mill! But you’re kinda right he didn’t like what he heard in the Grapevine! What happened to you at the beginning is that you basically Snapped in a good way! And you started snapping with your fingers!
🎸🤘🙏🏻

Love the rock n roll face you have! I grew up with CCR and rocked out back in the 60s and 70s. Glad to see a new generation appreciating the music of my youth.

This is a shortened version, so, if you like the guitar, check out the "Extended Jam" version. It's pretty awesome IMO.
