Creedence Clearwater Revival - Someday Never Comes

#CCR Creedence Clearwater Revival is undeniably one of the greatest rock bands of all time, with an instantly recognizable, raw, bayou sound, popularized in songs like "Proud Mary" and "Green River”. Since their formation in the 1960s, CCR has sold over 50 million records, while their songs remain in heavy rotation on the radio.

Though the band only released 7 studio albums in their too-short career, Creedence had an astonishing track record: eight consecutive gold singles ("Proud Mary," "Bad Moon Rising," "Green River," "Down on the Corner," "Who'll Stop the Rain," "Up Around the Bend," "Lookin' Out My Back Door," "Have You Ever Seen the Rain?") and eight consecutive gold albums. With music that sounds as fresh and compelling today as it did 30 years ago, CCR is one of a handful of bands whose entire body of work has attained true "classic" status.

The most underrated song in the catalog. That key change kills.

It probably sounds cliche, but Someday IS Going To Come. My Dad passed 2 years ago. I still tell my friends to take as many pictures of their parents as possible, 'cause memories are all that's left. And it changes your perspective on life.

First thing I remember
Was asking Papa, "Why?"
For there were many things I didn't know
And Daddy always smiled
Took me by the hand
Saying, "Someday you'll understand"
Well, I'm here to tell you now each and every mother's son
You better learn it fast, you better learn it young
'Cause someday never comes
The time and tears went by
And I collected dust
For there were many things I didn't know
When Daddy went away
He said, "Try to be a man
And someday you'll understand"
But I'm here to tell you now each and every mother's son
You better learn it fast, you better learn it young
'Cause someday never comes
And then one day in April
I wasn't even there
For there were many things I didn't know
A son was born to me
Mama held his hand
Saying, "Someday you'll understand"
Well, I'm here to tell you now each and every mother's son
You better learn it fast, you better learn it young
'Cause someday never comes
Ooh, someday never comes
Think it was September
The year I went away
For there were many things I didn't know
And I still see him standin'
Tryin' to be a man
I said, "Someday you'll understand"
But I'm here to tell you now each and every mother's son
You better learn it fast, you better learn it young
'Cause someday never comes
Ooh, someday never comes
Mm, mm, mm, mm
Mm, mm, mm, mm
Mm, mm, mm, mm

This song chokes me up every time, my Dad held me in his arms when I came into this world, then 42 years later I held him in my arms as he left this world, in that 42 years he taught me how to be respectful, loving, compassionate, fearless, hardworking, always family first, he was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star for bravery in WWII, he was and always will be my hero, til we meet again Rip Scrap Iron🇺🇸❤️💔🇺🇸

My dad's favorite band.
2 tours in Vietnam, and he did make it home.
But the war eventually got him anyway.
God I miss that man. I can still see this 8 track hanging out of the dash of his old black Torino.
Been 41 years since he passed but when i listen to this disc i swear I can feel him here.

This band, was so good. John Fogerty doesn’t get enough credit, man that guy is so talented. After 40 years, this band never gets old.

Losing my father, a Vietnam War veteran, and my personal hero, this song always reminds me of our short time together, and while he’s gone, this music remains, and thus so does he

CCR just has to be in the Conversation.
The Greatest American Band.
They did it all.
Rock, R&B, Country, Blues
Honky Tonk.
If you have a Pickup Truck.
Well CCR has filled many Cabs
With that Creedence Sound.

Seeing many comments about losing a father really scares me. This is our favorite band and hearing this song and putting myself in that perspective hurts. I hope all yall are doing well. And wish nothing but the best

I just learned that these guys only existed for four years, that's remarkable, how did they manage to create such a wealth of iconic songs in that short amount of time!!

These CCR tracks give me goosebumps in a good way. I instantly remember riding in the passenger seat of my father's 1966 Ford Falcon. The car cassette tape never came out or he just never bothered to change it. My father would tell me stories about trying to buy these type of cars from houses where that sat and rotted out from brand new. He would tell me that most of this was due to young men getting killed in Vietnam and the parents had either stored the cars for them or bought them as a “surprise" for when they came home, but those days turned to years, which turned to decades and it was something that very rarely they could bring themselves to sell. I'd listen to these stories and we would just drive. This was before the 9/11 stuff and id even goes as far as to say it was a “happier time" My father wasn't perfect, but one of the few happy memories I have was riding in that car, and CCR on the cassette tape. The car itself resembled the “American Dream" I was so young, but I fell deeply in love with music and haven't been the same since. I'd give my tomorrow for one of those yesterdays. ❤️

It's song like this that make total sense why back in 1972 they were the biggest rock band in THE WORLD

Have had Creedence in my heart and head for years.
Returned to this old gem now since my father, who also liked Creedence, died this week.
