Creedence Clearwater Revival - Run Through The Jungle

#CCR Creedence Clearwater Revival is undeniably one of the greatest rock bands of all time, with an instantly recognizable, raw, bayou sound, popularized in songs like "Proud Mary" and "Green River”. Since their formation in the 1960s, CCR has sold over 50 million records, while their songs remain in heavy rotation on the radio.

Though the band only released 7 studio albums in their too-short career, Creedence had an astonishing track record: eight consecutive gold singles ("Proud Mary," "Bad Moon Rising," "Green River," "Down on the Corner," "Who'll Stop the Rain," "Up Around the Bend," "Lookin' Out My Back Door," "Have You Ever Seen the Rain?") and eight consecutive gold albums. With music that sounds as fresh and compelling today as it did 30 years ago, CCR is one of a handful of bands whose entire body of work has attained true "classic" status.

My grandfather fought in Nam, his mind never really left it. Once he came back from the jungle he just wasn’t the same mentally.

Honorably discharged in 1966, I missed one of the greatest political debacles in the history of America. For those who either joined or were drafted and survived, you have my deepest respect. For those whose names are on the wall, you were sacrificed on the field of political expediency. Johnson's war is a stain on this nation. As usual, it's always the young men from the inner cities, ghetto's, barrio's, the deep south, and the western plains who had nothing yet always fight the wars of this nation. "Fortunate Son" by CCR was a damning expose of how the wealthy and politically connected avoid our wars. Politicians in later life on both sides of the aisle and the sons of those in political power avoided this war.

If there was an adequate song for listening while you were flying over Mekong River, on a Huey chopper, this definitly was it. XD

This song was played in Vietnam many times over, according to the Vietnam Veterans I've known. The song must have been made specifically for them. It let them know that they had not been forgotten about. Such a morale boost it must have been! Thank you, CCR!!!

One of the most Kickass songs ever made. Never gets old, ever.

That rustic sounding backwoodsy tone that CCR just warms the heart like a chunky beef stew on a cold winters night.

I’ve always loved how Fogerty pronounces certain words.

*LYRICS*

Whoa thought it was a nightmare
Lord it was so true
They told me don't go walking slow
The devil's on the loose
Better run through the jungle
Better run through the jungle
Better run through the jungle
Whoa don't look back to see
Thought I heard a rumblin'
Calling to my name
Two hundred million guns are loaded
Satan cries "take aim"
Better run through the jungle
Better run through the jungle
Better run through the jungle
Whoa don't look back to see
Over on the mountain, thunder magic spoke
Let the people know my wisdom
Fill the land with smoke
Better run through the jungle
Better run through the jungle
Better run through the jungle
Whoa don't look back to see..

Rode through Iraq 🇮🇶 with this playing. .50 Cal Man up 72+ hours, losing our minds. Slowly, to a great jam

This song feels strangely appropriate to be about overcoming addiction. Don't look back to see, just keep going. Run like your life depends on it.

My father in law spent a couple years over in vietnam flying helicopters for the Corp. He said this is one of the very few bands from back then he can still listen too. Thank you to all of the men and women who have served or are still serving this country.🇺🇸🇺🇸
