Is The Seventh Day Adventist church a Cult?

This is a promo video for a live discussion I will be having with an Seventh Day Adventist that is scheduled live discussion set for Sunday the 22nd of September 2024 at 9am EST. We will be discussing the question "Is The Seventh Day Adventist Church a Cult?" I believe that they are a cult because they teach a works based gospel and deny salvation by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. Ellen White taught false doctrine. She was also a false prophet. She claimed that God revealed to her that Jesus would leave the Most Holy Place and after that Christians would no longer need a mediator and would stand before a holy God on our own merits and with our own righteousness. This is simply false and it means that Ellen White was a false prophet.

Will God be judging us according to our faith? The Bible is clear on this issue without exception. Jesus said, "Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, and shall come forth; they that have done good to the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, to the resurrection of damnation." John 5:28-29.

Paul writes that God "Who will render to every man according to his deeds: To them who by patient continuance in well doing, seek for glory, and honor, and immortality; eternal life." Romans 2:6-7. "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that every one may receive the things done in the body, according to that he hath done, whether good or bad." 2 Cor. 5:9-10. Notice that we will receive according to what is done, and not according to what we believed.

Peter asserts, that the Father, "without respect of persons, judgeth according to every man's work." 1 Peter 1:17.

And St. John concludes with these formidable words: "And the dead were judged out of the things written in the books, according to their works." Rev. 22:12. Observe that it is not once said, "according to their faith."

The works spoken of here are the fruit of faith. Once again, I want to emphasize the words of Jesus that "he who abides in Me will bear much fruit." Works are not merit, but the fruit of genuine faith which Christ works through the believer. A fruitful faith is a saving faith.

It’s simple to understand, when a doctrine makes you take your eyes off God and Jesus and place the emphasis on “Self” it’s a false doctrine.

I am adventist. We are saved by Grace alone.
Our works and our FAITH have no merits as they will never be perfect.
But as we don't believe once saved always saved.
We have to trust (faith) and OVERCOME DAILEY.
We believe in saved by faith.

Not just by faith alone, but by obedient faith alone. Obedient faith includes (1) repentance (2) baptism into the name Jesus Christ (3) received the Holy Spirit. Satan believes (faith)in God but can't receive the Holy Ghost.. just faith without obeying these 3 steps by faith, does not save anyone.

They also believe that Jesus is Michael the Archangel. The Bible teaches that Jesus is God almighty.

Yes they are a cult and there are many boxes they do tick off on the criteria to be one.

Adventists are miffed that they are being questioned. They are also saying our questioning is a sign of end times.

Yes. If you notice most of the religions that come out of the 1800s all have a leader that has to be obeyed in order to be in the truth. So for example, the Mormons have Joseph Smith, EGW with the Seventh-day Adventists, Charles Taze Russell with the Bible Students the governing body with the Jehovah’s Witnesses. All of them tend to claim some kind of leader that has a special message.

I'm a former SDA . The worst doctrine in the SDA church is the Investigative Judgement doctrine . In the 1970s Dr Desmond Ford put out a thousand page paper on the investigative Judgement and was judged at glacier View in America. After one week .of study the delegates agreed with Des on his conclusions but the conservatives on the last day Friday brought out a 10 point summary of how Des position was at odds with the historic understanding of the IJ . This 10 point summary was brought out when most of the delegates had left on the Friday evening.
Desmond Ford was one that questioned the IJ but in the history of the Church there have been many and even now the vast majority of the scholars don't have any belief in the IJ in Germany and most of Europe the IJ is not taught in the Church. You can find many Adventists that will reject the IJ doctrine .
Des Ford is now deceased but he was a bible teacher with two PHD and a teacher at Avondale college in Australia. There are videos on youtube of Des talking with Walter Martin about the SDA church.
Des was a great defender of the Gospel in the SDA Church and led many out of legalism
