In 30 June 1997, the British was held a farewell gathering in Hong Kong, it was a concert for British Citizen say goodbye to the Hong Kong, I was absolutely sad and cry all night in seeing the home town is no longer under the British Style. The song of God Save The Queen and Auld Lane Syne are forever in my heart.... and the image of that moment....the British sails away from darkness...!

As a German I have to say this hymn is absolutely glorious and I am jealous that we don't have this kind of patriotism in our country. You maybe lost your empire but you will always have a history you can be proud of

It annoys me that the English anthem is always shortened to half of this in football, formula 1, etc
When most other countries have longer anthems played despite repetition in them.
Just a thought.

One thing i have always loved is at international football matches when it comes to singing our national anthem we always sing it with such pride and louder than our opponent
