As a prince, he was singing “God save the Queen” for his Queen and mother for the past 70 years. I can imagine the rush of emotion when he realized that he can no longer sing that

No matter how powerful or rich you are, you're still human with real emotions... Losing your mother will always break you. I feel for these 4 siblings. They had their mother with them for so many decades.

These words haven’t been spoken in 70 years. Truly the end of an era

I have to admit, as a 50 year old man, living in Canada I too was emotional as I heard "God Save the King" for the first time in my life. My family came to Canada between the wars and I have always been VERY proud of my heritage as English.

I had noticed over the years the Queen didnt look overly happy during God Save the Queen. After seeing King Charles tears at God Save The King I realised that the anthem must constantly remind them that their father, or mother in the Kings case, is dead. How very sad. God save the King.

8th June lost my father, 21st July lost my mother. Neither time did I have the World watching me. Massive respect and Sincerest condolences to King Charles lll.

It wasn't just the Queen. She was his mother and losing your mother or father is always hard to deal with.

It's watching history in the making! And the sound in the church is so resonant! The sadness in King Charles' face is so intense. I wonder what he was thinking? There's a bitter sweetness to it all with his ascension to the throne and the loss of his mother happening simultaneously.

Hearing this must bring it all home in the most painful manner. To him and all of us under a certain age this was HER song. He used to sing it for her. He must be feeling awful.

I was one of the many outside when they sang god save the king, it was broadcast live on the speakers and as soon as the song finished the heat from the sun bursted with intensity for a moment

One of the best renditions of the national anthem. Truly makes you feel proud to be British.

He seemed the most emotional a few minutes later when they removed the crown, scepter and orb from her casket to the altar. We know he was marching around endlessly for days and had been in at least three different cities, but I think that's when it kicked in that his mom was gone and his life would be forever changed.

He held it together so well, his duty kicked in the minute the Queen was pronounced dead . This has been a very long and emotional process for him, probably more so than his siblings,
