I'm 70 and on Intermittent fasting and keto, I've been taking ashwagandha for about 2 years, the only plus I've noticed is almost no stress whatsoever. No fast heart, no downside for an old timer like me.

Noticed this within 1 month, went from taking it and feeling colors were brighter and everything is awesome to completely "meh" and apathetic. I have found the best way to take it is as needed, you know if you wake up in a good "mood" or not, I find taking it on down days really helps rebalance me but if I wake naturally energized and motivated I leave it alone.

Man, I have underactive thyroid, swamped cortisol levels and horrible stress/anxiety/depression. Getting on ashwagandha has been life altering for me. It's like it was made specifically to treat all my assorted issues and I feel like a normal functioning human now. I don't take that for granted even a little bit, I am so consciously happy to just be able to BE. Thanks for the video and luckily in my particular case it fits into the missing puzzle pieces I needed pretty much perfectly.

Ashwagandha is a very important herb in Ayurvedic medicine. In Ayurveda, these things are not meant to be taken as supplements, only as prescription for when there is some problem or for a specific reason. Like regular medicine

Ashwaganda has been a miracle medicine for me. I used to suffer from really bad social anxiety and insomnia, I couldn't focus at work I was making mistakes all the time. Now I have hyper focus at work, almost superhuman focus and muscle strength, its amazing. My anxiety has been reduced by 80% it feels like, and i get a full night's rest most nights of the week.
I've been taking it for a month now and I haven't had any of the side effects mentioned, I feel like its only for certain people, like those who suffer from anxiety clearly have an imbalance in GABA

The longest I’ve taken ashwagandha for was probably around 6 months but I’ve been on it for a few weeks or months at a time many other times as well. Anytime I’ve been on it for an extended period of time I’ve noticed that when I finally come off of it I’ll have horrific anxiety attacks for no apparent reason. This lasts 2-3 days and then I go back to normal, but it bothers me because I don’t think it’s healthy to become so dependent on anything that you have withdrawal-like symptoms when you come off of it.

On the bright side, while I’m on it I’d feel a level of calm and clarity that was almost superhuman. Sometimes this would progress into emotional numbness and lack of motivation which is usually the reason I will stop until I’m in another period of my life where I’m super stressed out and I need something to help me get through the storm.

I was under anti depressant and took ashwaganda since the anti depressants resulted in multiple side effects. Took Ashwaganda everyday and within two month I was at good state but notice I wasn't feeling pleasure in things. My emotions were bland and apathetic. Reduce the intake from once a week and it helped a lot. Now, I take it every so often, maybe once or twice a month and it's helped balance out so much. It has been a year and my mood and habits have improved. I constantly check in with my doctor and monitor things.

Thank you for making this video honesty I was doing extensive research for the side effects for Ashwaganda, and I’m glad recently it’s getting somewhat more attention now, it’s crazy how it gets overlooked for the side effects of Ashwaganda.

I’m definitely experiencing the “grey effect” at the moment that you talked about in the video. Been taking ashwaganda for like 3 years straight. At first I took it to fix my social anxiety, which worked, but now it has also numbed down my pleasure and excitement. Like nothing makes me anxious nor excited anymore, which is not worth it imo.. Having some anxiety is a good thing, makes you feel alive 🤙 Going to stop taking it now for a while to see if it will midigate the side effects. Thanks a lot for the info!

Instead of adding more supplements just cycle it. If you feel good with it, then find a cycle routine that works for you. 7 days on vs. 5 off, 3 months on vs. 2 months off, etc. I've been doing it like this for 2 years and never had any negative side effects that I've noticed.

I was taking Ash for about 8 months. It was a miracle for me at first. Over time I became so lethargic and apathetic it was actually dangerous. As in, I don’t care if I live or die. I stopped taking it.

Man I took ashwagandha for 1 month straight at I felt the anhedonia super strongly around week 3. Like first week I felt my test go higher, sex drive was up, sex drive down it was all going great. However slowley but surely I was losing my emotions and feelings, at the beginning I thought it was a good thing because I just felt less anxious in public but near the end even simple things that would make me excited or happy weren't cutting it anymore and I decided that its not worth it. I'd rather live a more anxious but exciting life than a calm boring one

I have taken Ashwagandha on and off for while now and for it's interesting how the effect changes over time. At first it definitely gives energy and increases focus. I play badminton and I tend to take it before practice and the effect is quite noticable, I'm quicker both physically and mentally and the clarity of focus is better. However, for me even if taking only on training days (I train about 3-4 times a week), after couple of months I notice a definite decline in energy where it actually slows me down and makes me sleepy and sluggish. But it takes a while for me to notice that it's not simply a bad day or something else, and to attribute that to ashwagandha, so that's a bit annoying. Then I have to take a break (I'll skip for about a month) and the original effect seems to come back. So yea, with things like this you definitely have to keep a constant eye on the effects.

I’m thinking I need to start taking my ashwagandha earlier in the day instead of with dinner. I cannot fall asleep until like midnight, but that’s the only issue I have. I might be the one rare person who needs it in the morning or at least by noon.

Edit: I took it with breakfast the last two days and it worked a lot better for me. I tend to be very stressed and tired in the morning but can’t drink caffeine because I get anxious. The ashwagandha has helped me feel more relaxed, and oddly enough, more energetic through the shift instead of keeping me up at night.

So this drug reduces anxiety and invigorates at first, but in the long term it can make you kinda numbed .small doses with short term use might be accentuating its benefits while avoiding the side affects.

Yes! This video was very needed. I’ve been seeing alot of anhedonia/PSSD reports on the ashwagandha subreddit. Thank you for this

Thanks for the Video! I took Ashwagandha for an extended period of time, like 2-3 years with some interruptions of 1 Week to 1-2 Months. At the beginning it really helped me a lot with anxiety and stress, which went away eventually. Now I barely notice anything anymore no matter if I take it or not. The funny thing is, i've seen so many videos about this, read articles and studies but can't remember hearing about things like anhedonia as a consequence of taking it. I thought I'm just normally like this, not feeling much enjoyment in tasks I've once enjoyed. Never would have thought that it could be a result of Ashwhagandha – thanks for this and the other info how to mitigate the (side) effects.

I've taken ashwagandha for about 4 months and at the beginning it was great for stress and anxiety but as of late I have noticed a significant loss in motivation, excitement, emotions and bad brain fog. Since I stopped taking it a few days ago my energy and motivation levels seem to have gone back up. If I ever take it again I won't go longer than a month or two.

One month of taking Ashwagandha, then 2 weeks or one month off, and repeat. The evening time is best time to take it imo, unless you have a day off and you wanna chill. Great vid man.

I'm on ashwagandha for one week then off the other and so on. It helps me get through my night shifts and stay alert. I have yet to notice any negative side effects but thanks to this video I know what to be cautious about 👍
