I have made baked beans a little differently and everyone loves them. I fix my baked beans with canned baked beans, add in chopped onion, chopped green bell pepper, ketchup, yellow mustard, brown sugar, salt and pepper to taste. Sorry but I never measure! Instead of bacon on top of beans I season boneless center cut pork chops, then place them on top of beans in baking dish, turn to coat chops in bean sauce. Cover with foil and bake at 375-400 until chops are tender. Remove foil and return to oven uncovered until chops are browned.

I made my Cowboy Beans exactly like yours except I cut up the Bacon, then I put it on top of the Beans, that way everyone got a little Bacon and not a whole piece.

Your baked bean recipe is the same recipe that my mom made in the 50’s and 60’s and what I make now, except we use brown sugar and no meat. I don’t put meat in mine cause we usually eat it with meat.
