Cracking and popping sounds from a MacBook Pro Retina

A few days ago I started to hear this faint strangle clicking from my MacBook.

At first I though it was me moving the unit around so it was just flexing but as the day wore on I found that even when it was on my desk (flat surface) and nothing connected or touching the unit it was still doing the same thing.

The following day It got worse to I made an appointment at the Apple Store to get it checked out.

I have heard that some people are taking about the sound being the logic board pins that space out the case or the screws on the unit need to be tightened or loosened. But as a sound engineer (my ears are good trust me! ;-) ) and being a MacJunky for 25 years, I know it's not going to be anything like that.

It sounds more like the battery moving/expanding, you know the crackling sound you get when you hear plastic moving around? Or, god forbid, the processor flexing with the heat?

But then again I am not seeing the temp raising to an abnormal number.

In the meantime I have made this video of the sound.

The image shows how I recorded it. I have amplified the sound by 50% so that it can be heard.

Appears MBPR were released with design flaw, within the fans-speaker(s)
Mid MBP also reported 'battery popping' clicks, visible bulge beneath track
pad area.

My 2013 Retina MacBook Pro just started doing the same thing :-/

Did you have any luck with support, and have you posted this to Apple's community support site? I'd like to +1 your thread so we can get some traction on this.
