Why I HATE Body Language Online Now

Things have changed on the internet over the past 10 years, and this is especially true with nonverbal and body language content. So much misinformation has been spread and it's been difficult for people to wade through. I'm going to be adjusting my upload approach to hopefully compensate for some of the chaos! Here's to a good 2025.

I've always appreciated your disclaimer that this isn't an exact science, but a possible aid into understanding people better. I've always had trouble with understanding nonverbal communication, so I find your videos fascinating. I always understood that your content deals more with the gray, not the black and white. It never bothered me and I wish the majority felt that way.

Looking forward to what content you will be bringing and I'm glad you're not aiming to fill the mindless machine.

🔍 I work in mental health, and learning and noticing people's patterns of body language are a key part of my work. Your channel is the only body language one I am subscribed to, *because* of the way you phrase things as possibilities and not certainties. I look forward to learning more!

🔍I've always really hoped someone would make a video about body language in neurodivergent people. There's a lot of undiagnosed people and I've always wondered how many people's body languages have been judged in a negative manner because it's based on a neurotypical person's body language

On the subject of, "It's not an exact science and therefore it should be abandoned instead of researched more, " I'd like to say that I find the subject of body analysis fascinating (while fully understanding that it is considered a pseudo science at this time of writing) from an animator's point of view. Because animators often use micro expressions and body language to convey thoughts and feelings their characters are going through without using dialogue. So it's good for animators to have studied body analysis.

🔍 Excited to see the next chapter. I always appreciated your adherence to 'I don't know' and 'we can't know'. Along for the ride! Thanks Logan. Good luck!

I remember when you had to remind yourself to "roll the intro" it was a golden time 😊

🔍 I found you during covid, so I had no idea that you used to do more educational videos, but I'm incredibly excited for you to return to these, I'm sure they'll be fascinating. You're my favourite body language analysis channel, and that's due in part to your acknowledgement of nuance, your explanation of it, and your honesty around the limitations of body language analysis. One thing I miss is the % accurate disclaimer image on screen at the beginning of the video, which also screamed honesty for the newcomers. I think it's fantastic that you're prioritising what you're passionate about, and look forward to the new content. Take care and be well 🔎

I respect the heck out of the position you're taking.

If you are inclined, I think a lot of people might benefit from a discussion of reading contradictory emotional cues or unusual emoting given context. Ex. Laughter tied to stress or distress versus sincere, genuine versus forced or crocodile tears, how a person who might speak very little or try to compose expression might have tells through body language, etc.

If you've covered it already and I missed it apologies! I actually think creatives might find that very helpful. I also know expression varies a lot depending on a person's baseline and it's not one-size-fits-all. I mean the kind of incorporation of many different cues to try and figure out nuance within expression.

It would be fascinating to learn how various types of personality disorders, such as D.I.D., Narcissistic Personality Disorder, Sociopathic Personality Disorder, etc. can affect the body language of an affected individual. Do vulnerable narcissists often have tells that indicate power or aggression while the individual is making a play for sympathy? When a person is disassociating, is there a noticeable change in body posture or emotional response? These are topics that I think could be very useful and interesting to those who have to work or live with individuals who have these conditions.

You are the first and only body language expert that i started watching on youtube, and that is precisely BECAUSE of you always disclaiming that this is not an exact science and that all body language is unique to a specific person. The importance of establishing a baseline in each case is crucial, and while there are certain things that are pretty universal for most people, it's important to only view these things as guidelines and not as hard facts. I think that the most important thing to understand is that EVERYBODY is DIFFERENT, and that there are tons of outside factors to consider (such as climate, nervousness, distractions etc), which is something I learned from you. I feel like your content has given me some basic knowledge on how to read people and understand why you have a gut feeling if this person is being sincere or not, and how to try to understand how the other person is feeling. I respect you for always being honest and not trying to pretend that your interpretation/analysis is absolute fact. KEEP BEING REAL, Logan! Excited for more varied content from you! <3

I'm happy I found your channel only after I was doing my own research. The show Lie To Me started my interest in body language, so I was already aware that it wasn't a perfect detection.🔎
I'm So Sorry you've been struggling with this. It's not fair that a lot of people would rather get angry at the science of such an interesting subject (and by extension you) instead of looking into it themselves with awe and wonder...🔍

It’s unfortunate that some people require a black and white answer in order to enjoy content. I personally LOVE analytical content without a clear answer. Another channel I love is Psychology in Seattle, who also does reaction videos without clear answers. I love the idea that we’re still maintaining curiosity, and openness to new ideas. I think your goal of making videos without a “black and white” answer is very attainable. I think there are more people out there (like me), who maybe aren’t as loud in engaging as those demanding a clear answer, but still thoroughly enjoy your content. Excited to see more!!

I like learning about clues and what they might mean, but ALSO learning how to avoid assumptions about those same clues. 🔍

I’m also here for the long haul. Always been a big fan and enjoyed everything that you have done. Can’t wait for the new content and I am very happy for you to be able to continue doing what you love. I have learned so much just from the observation videos. I can’t wait for the educational ones as well! 🥂

🔎 I'm a social scientist. It's rare for science or interpretation about people to be absolute. I love the nuances. Even something like eye contact has nuanced levels. I'm a truthful, confident person, but I also have several invisible illnesses. When I'm tired or in pain, I struggle with eye contact. It doesn't mean anything about the truthfulness or trustworthiness of what I'm saying or doing, I'm just fighting an internal battle.

That being said, maybe a "mythbusting" episode of stereotypes could be interesting? Like the myth that everyone looks down and to the left when they're lying.

🔍I enjoy your analysis videos (the longer, the better). You make it clear that no reading is 100% reliable. I am on the spectrum, so I struggle to pick up on nonverbal cues. Happy New Year, Logan! 🎉

Ngl my favorite videos have always been the ones where you're having more fun in them rather than the super serious ones.
