Not many people can afford monthly visits to a dermatologist. And good luck getting insurance coverage. So it would be better if he actually provided more guidelines for at-home use since that’s how most people are going to microneedle.

I did this for my over plucked eyebrows. I literally had half brows for years. My eyebrows grew back completely.

P.S.🛑if you have cats or dogs, minoxidil is highly, highly toxic to them! I even heard a doctor say the amount left on your pillow can harm them. Just a friendly reminder❤

I microneedle every 4-5 weeks with an electric microneedling pen. I’m also a nurse so I follow all the precautions to prevent infection. I have seen great results with long term use. I think for me it is an affordable alternative to in office treatments I cannot afford on a routine basis. I also am a firm believer of prevention so I always wear sunscreen at SPF 50, do not smoke, only drink on occasion, and follow a daily skin routine with red light therapy and tretinoin. I think doing long term at home care is really the key to health skin aging. Prevent/minimize the issues before you need more invasive treatments

While I trust your information 100% Dr. Linkov because I've been following your channel since it was new. I consider you the absolute best plastic surgeon on this platform. I am a former aesthetician, and I love my microneedling results. I will undoubtedly continue with my medical grade devices and supplies. I do always appreciate your information and will proceed with caution. 💛💙

I do daily red light therapy and micro needling with a roller ( don’t go too deep )almost daily in the evening.
I see huge improvement in my skin.
Thank you for your video.

TE is done, now microneedling once a week with a 0.5 pen. Also doing eyebrows with .25 once a week
Clinic cost-$500 per session, tried it once, won’t be going back, my pen was alittle over $100
Make parts in the hair, and pass up and down each part about twice sometimes 3times in areas where I don’t feel it.
Another rigamorole to add to health, but hoping the rewards will be worth the time, like weight training is.

Have you ever come across a case where you could not perform hair transplant surgery because someone scared their scalp with micro-needling?

I got the derminator 2. Much much better than the roller. Highly recommend it.

I had it done on myself for the first time with a 1.0mm needle, but I didn't know that retinol could increase the skin's inflammatory reaction, so I used tritenoin as usual right after. After a few weeks, a large patch of hyperpigmentation appeared on both cheeks, which remains to this day, months after I had it done. I'm now starting a treatment to lighten the patch.
I think it's safe if you really know how to do it and what to avoid, but there's a lot of misinformation out there and you need to be careful. I see some people using big needles and doing this procedure more often than they should. They're tempting fate.

im microneedling my scalp 2 times a week for several years now and im convinced it plays an important role in still having hair xD
as far as side effects I never experienced any problem
im using medical tool disinfection once a week (the stamp sits in it for 30 mins) plus normal disinfection before and after every treatment
i will definetly keep doing it at home because doing it in office seems a bit overkill? it has worked for me for years now so not sure why would stop doing it this way now

There was a study that showed good results with 1.5mm needle so used that like the study did x1 weekly. No issues at all. I think some of the cons are scaremongering. The needle is to fine to chop of your hair lol and if you wet it and hold it down you shouldn’t get it tangled in the roller. There’s lots of videos that show tips on this. Sterilisation is v easy too and I’ve never had an infection. So whilst DR Gary may say stick to professionals doing it for you I call bull on that it’s a low risk easy treatment to do yourself if you apply basic common sense and prepare with a few YT videos. The average person can’t afford to go to clinic for such a simple and low risk procedure. No I’m an extremely cautious person by nature acne tbis is the only thing I felt confident enough to do in my home and as said I feel it works with no complications for me after 12 months. So my advice is definitely save money and diy all the way baby!

I do microneedling for short-term relief: if I don’t microneedle my scalp, the hair pulls on it and causes discomfort. Microneedling helps me pay less attention to my scalp constantly itching and hurting. And yes, I can cut my hair, but I can’t part with a waist-length braid.

"Assessing the Efficacy of Automated Microneedling Monotherapy for Androgenetic Alopecia: A Comparison of 3 Different Depths"
DOI:
0.5 mm is shown to have the best results (compared to 1.0 mm and 1.5 mm). I've been using this depth at-home and I'm regaining my hairline after about 1 month. What Dr. Linkov shared about FDA approval is worth considering, but I'm not turning back. I microneedle once per week, after cleaning the area thoroughly and covering it in povidone-iodine. No numbing is needed at the 0.5 mm depth, and the risk of scarring is vanishingly small at that depth. I also microneedle my forehead wrinkles, beard, and a couple small acne scars on my face. All are improving.

Microneedling at home is one of the best kept beauty secrets! What pay hundreds for something you can do in the comfort of your own home. There are plenty of videos out there- including videos for training purposes. I’ve been doing it in and off for years.
I prefer the roller over the pen, despite the pen being touted as superior. Just found that if you are using shallower depth, the pen is fine- but if you’re going with 1.5-2.5mm, the roller is better- it doesn’t drag and pull like a pen can at those depths.
I would do microneedling and peaks over lasers anyway!! I will NEVER use a laser on my face- there are too many variables to consider and too large of a margin for error when it comes to these devices. It’s a hard pass for me.

I have done at home. Hair got stronger. But it's really a hustle to do it by yourself. Ended up stopping it. Might restart.

I will continue using a dermapen at home. I might not be a professional, but I can still control the depth, and as long as I don't go too deep I may not stimulate the bulge of the hair follicles directly, but I can still get benefits for the skin. Healthy skin equals higher likelihood of healthy hair too.

Recent studies also have some promising data that 0.6mm wields the best results for hair count. I'm not sure if there's any validity to those studies, but they add up to what we already know. Scar tissue formation is not good and that's the only "fact", therefore don't risk going too deep.

I'm not an expert, but I can use common sense and observe the way experts use the pen in videos to minimize collateral damage as much as possible. I have seen improvements in hair count on my left side of the hairline specifically, so I'll continue the treatment.
