I used Botox and fillers to "bridge" myself through my 50s when I was menopausal, dealing with a changing body image and making great money at my job. No 67 yo and don't need nor want more injectables. I am retired, so happy and content, dropped the Botox/fillers/hair color. My "secret" now is great skin care (with actives), a good diet, maintaining beautiful hair, exercise and a happy life. ❤️

Thank you for saying we don’t have to treat wrinkles!
I’m 38 and work in a high end salon/wellness spa, and I’m the only one who doesn’t do Botox.

Finally professionals say all of this! Can't belive professionals keep convincing 20 year old to get "preventative botox". Thanks!

I am 56 and I have never tried Botox. I have always been into good skin care and that has served me well so far. Most people think I am at least 10 years younger than I am which is good enough for me!

Maybe a bit of a different perspective than a lot of people that I thought I would share: have a neuromuscular condition that acts in a kind of similar way to botox. Several doctors joked to me in my early 20s "oh, well you'll never need botox now!" and it was so crass - what I wouldn't give to be able to express myself, laugh, smile, live life, who cares about wrinkles right now! I decided botox wasn't something I would get, and the wrinkles I have now, ten years later and in remission from my disorder, are indicators of my health and ability to live well and meaningfully. It can be hard seeing my face change and additional lines show up, but now I'm slowly coming to peace with the fact that I'm just going to be a wrinkly lady as I age!

I've been seeing this preventative botox stuff everywhere and it frustrates me when it's marketing as a *need*, especially for people who are still quite young. I'm glad that you guys provided such a balanced perspective that allows people to make informed decisions that are right for themselves.

I just want someone to look at me the way Dr. Maxfield looks at Dr. Shah ♥️

My friend starting using Botox in her 20’s and by mid 30’s it wasn’t working for her. Was told she has antibodies against Botox. And with long term use and atrophy of the underlying facial muscles when she could no longer use Botox, she wrinkled so bad and looked aged. Now in her late 30’s she’s had a mini face lift

Its funny how ppl care about wrinkles and fight them but they dont actually make you look old . Even some teens or guys in their early 20s have them and do they look old ? nope you can clearly tell they are young despite them having wrinkles . Same if you take someone in their 40s without single wrinkle, you can still tell their not 20 something . Shape of the face is where its at and skin quality . do you agree ?

I heard an interesting article on the psychological effects of freezing expression. We think we feel something, and our face forms the expression. But the reverse is true too. You form a facial expression and then feel the emotion. The research was then delving into how limited are our feelings from using Botox type substances. And they found that many people have finished emotional feeling or growth. Fasciinating

Tried Botox for the first time at age 30. I’m now 40 with no static wrinkles other than minor fine lines around my eyes from smiling. Only get it maybe 1-2 times a year. My esthetician uses just enough to prevent those deep lines but still allows me facial expression, as i don’t like being frozen. Love it.

I’m so glad i found this channel. I can’t get into a dermatologist to ask questions about my skin until NEXT may. we only have 2 dermatologists in my area, and they’re booked out an entire year. it’s insane.

Thank you for acknowledging the mature face and that aging is natural and beautiful! I love your channel, always look forward to your next lesson, and now have a healthy skin care routine for myself because of you both!

I had static wrinkles from drug abuse, I got clean at 25 I’ve been getting Botox for 2 years and it’s changed my skin. It’s amazing. I now get about 25 units every 6 months for prevention.

I’m so glad you say this as ‘preventative botox’ was so obviously a great idea of a marketing/sales person at a big pharma company, and was always clearly bollocks. I know a 26 year old who got it and I was so shocked. I wish they’d leave people alone to enjoy being young

super informative thank you. I am 36 and had no wrinkles until this year when I had a baby. I found postpartum destroyed my skin and was trying to determine what approach to take. I learned so much in this video!

Loved this video, they are not saying “preventative Botox, ” even in your 20s, is an absolute good or bad. It’s personal choice. Just make sure you are getting it done by a qualified professional and know what it actually is and what you’re paying for.

I didn’t start till I was 33 when I started developing fine lines, and the toxin did completely get rid of them. You don’t need to start until you start noticing fine lines/wrinkles (unless you’re using toxin for facial slimming in the masseters, etc.).

I love Botox. Currently I'm 37 and 2 days ago I was at an event where someone said they thought I was 26 (which mid-20s is the age people usually put me at based on appearance).

I actually started with Dysport and want to try that again after years of Botox. I started when I was 32 and after a few months (seeing how my body responded, moved and had to find a new injector), I have been getting 20 units of Botox every 3 months.

Mind you- the recommended units from the company are often higher than what you may actually need. My injector shared that the suggested units by Botox was like, way higher, but we are able to do less and get results I'm happy with.

I think it's also important to note that I also eat healthy, don't drink or smoke, get adequate sleep, take precaution with sun exposure and invest in skincare. I say that because Botox won't solve all your concerns if you aren't always taking care of yourself and your skin. It might give you a quick fix but often times a true lifestyle change is required to get the kinds of results I think a lot of people are hoping for when they see people that have great skin or look young for their age.

Anyway, I hope this was helpful! I'm happy to answer any questions and wish you the best in your aging endeavors!

Just had my first botox (& filler) experience at the age of 63. Not in my 20's. 63. Between my diet and good skincare, I haven't really needed botox. But I was offered a good deal to try it. My vid goes live on Feb 17, 2023 where I show the whole process, including the procedure itself. 😉

I got botox at 23. I am in school, and I found myself scowling all the time. It was giving me headaches, and I just wished I could weaken my eyebrows!! I got a very small amount, and it cost me 80 bucks. It worked! Honestly I don't really care what people have to say about it. It's my body, I can do what I want.
