thats why I enjoy Steven Erikson so much. Published a ten book series with 3.3 million words in 12 years

There’s too much pressure on him now. People have made so many theories and he can’t change his plans now just to surprise the reader but doesn’t want it to just be exactly what they expect to happen. Frankly I think as long as he doesn’t botch it like the show did then all will be well

He will never finish. He goes off in so many sub plots that he had no idea how to bring it all together....introducing character after character only to kill them off...

I expect both novels will be published together, six months to a year after his death, completed from his existing works and finished by a hardcore superfan ghost writer, who's probably already sitting on the completed manuscripts that just need to be fitted together with what he's already written.

The man is 75, and dangerously obese. He missed the hype train when D&D bungled the end of the series, he made his big pile of money, he left his mark on the world of literary fantasy, and he lost interest. I'm totally content to just leave him to blog and watch football for the next few years. The only thing I wish he'd do is just come clean and tell us he doesn't care anymore.

I really enjoyed the HBO series, & always looked forward to the next season. However, I was really disappointed at the final season. Compared to all of the previous seasons, I felt that the grand finale kind of sucked. It was as if they were tired of it all & just wanted to get it over with so they could all go home.

George is focused on House of Dragon. Afterwards he'll be focused on another series that might get a pilot thus the TV run. Its dollars not shattered fan dreams hes focused on. Notice the books hes pumped out within that

My theory is the main plot points from the tv show was how he planned to finish the novels, remember the show runners had extensive notes from him about the ending, then after the reaction he’s had to scrap 70% of the last two books.

The first book was published at the same time as the first Harry Potter book.

Bernard Cornwell and RA Salvatore have put out about a combined 20 novels since Dance of Dragons cam out. COME ON GEORGE JUST FINISH THE BOOK ALREADY EVEN IF THERE WILL BE A PART 2 OF WINDS. YOUR FANS DESERVE IT

I really think GRR is distracted by his not sudden but definitely explosive immense success and wealth that happened this past decade, he's an older man and I can't blame him for wanting to all the places see all the things and try to explore every opportunity, I do wish he'd realize that as much as having as much as you can while you're here, his legacy and what he leaves behind will far out live all that, and thr characters he created deserve to fill their loves and stories to the end too. I read recently on his blog that he believes he's about 75% done with winds, which seeing as it's taken him over a decade to get that far, and given even when it's done it'll most likely be a first draft not actually finished which needs to heavily edited annotated and large parts changed taken out or rewritten, I really don't know if we'll ever get it. I do hope if ol George passes on before it's finished they'll at least let us read what he had. I really hope we get to see it as he intends tho, all the power and energy and vitality to ya George bc damn of I really truly wanna see game of thrones get the ending it deserves

how cool would it be if he had everything he wanted already done but holds it all back until his death, i mean i would definitely do something like that especially because hbo fucked my IP so hard some people say “he’s just scared because he saw the reception of hbo’s final season”.

also he worked/helped on elden ring’s story so i can’t hate on the wait tbh
