If GRRM doesnt get help all he'll be remembered for is being a case study in Time Management Errors and destroying ones own Magnum Opus

I think all the anticipation and high expectations for the book has given him so much anxiety that he isn't doing it

Cmon George just ask for help already, there’s no shame in it.

The hope of getting Winds of Winter is there I'm just not sure about Dream. Unless he has written a huge chunk of the story that he'd have to cut the other stuff and make it part of Dream.
I also think he needs some people to secretly help him, he can secretly hire Elio and Linda to quicken it. Coz to be honest this world has become so much bigger for one writer. Idk but that's what I think.

Nice video, I reckon the question isn’t whether Winds will be fully written, but rather who it will be written by. If George dies or gets seriously ill before finishing Winds his estate will probably get another writer to finish the books. Sort of like how Brandon Sanderson finished the Wheel of Time book series when Jordan died. George is 74 and obese, he won’t write Dream of Spring.

He’s not interested. No one has 12 years of writers block, and the “backlash” for the end of GOT is like 4 years old, doesn’t explain the other 8 years of nothing.

If he wanted to finish it he wouldn’t take on like 19 other projects at the same time.

I have to imagine with only two books left, he's fully planning out the rest of the series as he writes this. I can only hope that means he'll know exactly what's happening in Dream by the time he's done with Winds, and that'll make that go much faster. Or if I'm being super optimistic - maybe he's sort of writing parts of both books as he goes

I have absolutely zero hope of ever getting Winds of Winter. He's had an absolutely absurd amount of time to write it and he's told us time and time again that it's a priority, but his actions always tell a different story. Judging someone by their words (even if they are an author 😆) over their actions seems foolish.

The only way we'll ever get closure that isn't as horrible and defying of the plot in earlier seasons of Game of Thrones / books of A Song of Ice and Fire is if we end up with a Robert Jordan / Wheel of Time situation on our hands with GRRM passing away and someone else stepping up to finish the series off. At this point, that seems like the most probable and satisfying solution, given that he's 74 years old and he doesn't seem to be in optimal health. Even if Winds of Winter came out in 2025, at his current pace of writing, the likelihood of him surviving to finish the final book (if there is indeed only to be one final book after Winds of Winter) seems quite low.

I suspect he has detached and lost interest in the project... it became "too epic" in that he continued to introduce more and more characters and story arcs to the point where they had increased to such a point that reeling them now all in to a cohesive narrative in a couple more books is impossible, and so he procrastinates, indulging in side projects and unrelated projects to feel productive and enjoy writing instead of feeling burdened and overwhelmed by what should really be his magnum opus.

I think your right the disappointing ending may fire him up to make changes

I want to remain hopeful but man, 12 years is kinda nuts to wait for a book lol I agree though, if he’s stuck he should get some help

It's funny to me how George always compares himself to Tolkien, when he can't even finish his own series. 😂

Isn’t it possible that GRR is burnt out on Ice and Fire, and need these other projects to give him a fresh perspective?

I could be completely wrong, but I thought he mentioned he's apart of the writer's strike on his "not a blog" website?

Dude D and D killed his ambition to finish it. We’re never gonna get winds of winter, and if we do, we sure as hell are never going to get a dream of spring..

There is no such thing as writers block for 12 years. I hope he scraps A Dream of Spring and just ends the series in Winds. He will be dead before Dream of Spring is finishe.

I’ve given up on this series. Even IF (big if) he finishes TWOW, he’ll never finish ADOS.

He will never finish this series. The Winds of Winter and Dream of Spring will never materialize. He is old, probably in ill health, and doesn't have any intention of finishing them. But he sure does like stringing people along.

Trying to work through TWOW is genuinely a logistical nightmare. I am annoyed how longs it's taken but I don't think people realise how complicated it is to write that book in one book of like 1500-1800 pages. It should really be split into 2 books, but he doesn't want to do that. I don't envy George for this task
