This video is all about tongue posture! I've received many messages from patients who are trying to attain proper tongue posture on their own and in this video, I explain why it's not a good idea to do this without the help of a practitioner who is trained and experienced in providing myofunctional therapy! Myofunctional Therapy is a type of physical therapy for the muscles that surround and support the tongue.

Why is mainstream dentistry not looking at issues like tomgue posture in adults .Instead, they say all growth is over, only benefit adults can have is cosmetic

Wow. I had NO idea the tongue was meant to be up so high. I have TMJ, sleep apnea, crowded teeth. Who knew. 🤯

Thank you so much! I developed low tongue posture after a palatial expander and ended up with horrible TMJ pain and an open bite due to a lateral tongue thrust- im really hoping this will help out, and im going to be seeing a speech pathologist soon :)

I've been having TMJ symptoms for a while now (right eye with occasional muscle twitches, tinnitus and jaw cracking sounds when chewing/opening mouth) and have been training for the last 2 days to keep my tongue in the right position as described in your video (used to have a low tongue posture). It has been surprisingly easy for me to do it for the entire day. Have you had patients with similar problems and if so, would you know how long it can take before I see improvements specially when it comes to the muscle twitches? Also, as per your suggestion I'm looking for a myofunctional therapist where I live. Thank you for the great content!

Thanks for the informative video Priya! Which procedure do you think helps a person more with removal of tongue tie - frenectomy or frenuloplasty?

I feel a bit lost with the tongue posture thing. Few years ago, my tongue was always on the lower palate. Now, with (a lot) of practice, my tongue is always resting automatically in the upper palate (so it's supposed to be good). Yet, I am not sure it is such a good thing because I have strange sides effects that my be linked to this. Maybe because my tongue is pushing pretty hard all the time on the upper palate, wich is not so good...

My dentist says they don't do TMJ, they only do a splint or a thing to put in your mouth while you sleep. What doctor should I be seeing for this?

Hey, quick question, I've subbed too ! For my tongue, Its perfectly behind the top incisors(not pressing). Occasionally when I breath through my nose, sometimes I feel air reaching the top of my tongue too(my tip 2/3 of the tongues stays on top, bottom is kept unconscious haha). Is it normal or you should feel literally no air in your mouth/tongue ? while breathing through nose. Thanks and bless you with lots of love <3

Hi! I'm very happy I found your channel, I've been suffering from this from several years ago but now I'm in a lot of pain, I've gone through retainers, mouthguard, whenever there's a new filling or procedure done to any teeth it affects me horribly, I can't sleep or live as I should. I tried to find a myofunctional therapist near me but seems there's no any, is there any other name to this kind of specialists that I can find? Thanks!
I've been trying to be more conscious of my tongue posture, but I feel like I'm out of breath whenever I try, so I'm scared

Hey great video and info! I’ve been dealing with a painful scalloped tongue for 2 years now and have had no luck in relieving it after seeing multiple professionals. I’ve tried the night guard and didn’t notice a difference either. I do notice I don’t have proper tongue posture but one of those doctors are hours away from where I live. Do you think this could help my problem? And have you had patience with painful scalloped tongue ? Thanks 🙏

Is most TMJ curable? Recently started experiencing upper left jaw pain, due to clenching and improper tongue posture. Didn’t even realize this was a thing until now lol. Cheers

Hi Priya. I just found your channel. I've been suffering from TMD for at least a decade. I've had low tongue posture, with reverse swallowing, ever since I was a child and my nose was stuffed for a whole Summer. I had braces in High School and my orthodontist advised me to hold a button on the roof of my mouth with my tongue for 30 minutes a day. I also remember being told that I'd likely need surgery and that its not covered under insurance. This is what really confuses me. I experience so much pain in my jaw, neck, back, and shoulders, yet its still not covered under insurance. I just don't understand. Could you do a video talking about why TMJ and TMD treatments aren't covered by insurance?

I have too high and narrow palate for my tongue to rest at the palate, there's always a gap there where my tongue cannot reach, so it can't create suction. Also my mouth is so narrow and small that for my tongue to "rest" it extends way beyond my front teeth and the tip coming out between the lips, slightly. That's the least painful position and when I can breathe the best. If I keep the tongue in, and behind the teeth, it's in a too tight of a space and also obstructs my breathing because the mass of tongue pressing against the back of my throat. So simply, there's not enough space in my mouth for a normal sized tongue and there's no way I can make it to take it's natural and normal position. I have severe TMJ issues and I went through many years of failed orthodontics as a child and teen. It did not help. So I guess I can't but suffer.

Is my tongue supposed to touch my upper teeth? Some say that it shouldn’t but if it doesn’t my tongue is just too far back and it makes it hard to swallow and it starts hurting after a while of keeping it there
