Magnesium for Better REM sleep

Magnesium is one of the most abundant minerals in your body, and there is plenty of it in things like nuts and seeds, dark leafy green veggies, and dark chocolate. Still, many people benefit from adding more via a supplement. It’s cheap and safe, so it might be something you should consider too.

There are lots of forms of magnesium on the market. The two most relevant for you are magnesium bisglycinate and magnesium threonate. Since the first is so easy to find and so inexpensive, I usually recommend starting with 200-500 mg of magnesium bisglycinate before bed.

Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't. Depends on my stress levels.

I feel like I have a weird relationship with it, it really helps me fall asleep and I dream more. It makes me much calmer when it comes to body anxiety, but if I keep taking it every day, I end up really tired and weirdly, disturbingly forgetful. When I stop taking it I get an anxiety rebound. I do continue to take it because of the mood effects, maybe the 500mgs is too much though.

Magnesium citrate changes my dreams a lot. And it's cheap, and I only need a small dose.

I'd like to debate on this, as a Pharmacist i can highly recommend citrate and lactate forms of Mg. Those You are refering too are way to expensive for the positive effects they giving, beside, if You intake more than You need, Your body does not "take" it from Your digestive system.

Barbara O'Neill says that Mag citrate is the best because it's the most absorbing.
