Nice demo I like to pull one stripped wire end all the way thru the connectors then twist the two wires I'm connecting together and pull the twisted ends into the center of the heat activated connectors for a really strong connection esp in extreme applications, I'll check out that brand.

I'm going to have to revisit these. I tried them a while back and didn't have as good as the results as you just did. Maybe the brand I had was not as good.

I bought some of these back in the summer. they are great. I think you could have melted the solder a little better. When I did it the solder spread completely over the copper.

I might use this in my workshop, but never on the job site; takes too much equipment and too dang long. Out there, it's strictly quick wire nuts or push connectors.

You should roll the wires as you’re heating them but before that you should slide the tube over the wires, push them into each other meshing the strands and them melt it all.

I used these to repair the headlight harness on my car and I turned the wires and moved the nozzle side to side so that I was applying heat in little bit of a distributed manner and I completely melted the band of solder. I made the repair a little over 2 years ago and it's holding up so far. I also maybe went a little overboard by putting liquid electrical tape and heatshrink tubing on the ends of the connectors. But who wants to take chances with their headlights?

Surprised no-one has said this yet but you are supposed to heat that band in the center section until it melts the solder into liquid. That's the whole purpose of

Slide the connector on all the way then linemans splice the 2 wires then heat. You don't have to wait for the solder to cool and it's 4x stronger

Many people have had less than successful results with these. If I was going to take the time and do this I would just use a soldering gun and proper solder. These are kinda gimmickey!

I wouldn’t trust that connection long term. That band is supposed to be solder and it’s still in the shape of the band. For it to have worked properly that solder needs to flow through the joint not just shrink around it.
