Wow! Great advice. You gave me dejavu with one bit...My big brother always disregarded me when we were children. Years later, he was staying with me. We got into a strong discussion and he said something like “Oh, you always blah, blah..” alluding to how I was a child. I stopped him right there, telling him I grew, I’m not the same person now. If you choose to treat me as who I was and not who I am, then we have nothing more to say. I left the room feeling hurt. After thinking about it for a few minutes, he followed me and told me I was right. Afterward he treated me with a new respect.
Thanks Evan, for bringing up that stored away memory.
My brother is gone now, but we had the opportunity to begin anew because I wouldn’t allow myself to be disregarded!
