American Swede here. Another way to bring coziness, nature and warmth into a space is the use of candles. Not a synthetic overpowering candle, but something natural preferably with a wood wick that brings the smells of nature and warmth into the home. Scent is such a huge and often overlooked factor. I also practice opening my windows to let fresh air in- especially on rainy days. I put bird feeders and planter boxes outside my window to regularly bring nature into view as much as possible. It’s all about the little, timeless pleasures.

As a Danish girl🇩🇰, I will tell you that you were right in many facts, but my favourite was that we never arrange furniture so that it covers the windows.
Natural light is everything. And the large window itself is the beauty of the room! You can't block it. Unfortunately, I see this a lot in American homes. People arrange sofas and beds to cover some parts of the windows 😢
Another thing we LOVE are candles. In winter it is impossible to have a house without candles. Some people like them on furniture (dining tables), others on windowsills. This is our hygge. 🥰🇩🇰

I'm from Mexico!
But... we Mexicans are VERY maximalists, very colorful, and that is very cozy to us. Most of us couldn't deal with minimalist ideas because that is cold for us, we grew up sorrounded by huge patterns, a lot of objects and a lot of decorations. Even younger people are very into having a lot of cluttered stuff, but with an intention!

🌍I'm from Sweden :) It was fun to see how others perceive Scandinavian lifestyle and homes. Love how your living room looks now! Made such a huge difference with sofas facing each other. Personally I love danish homes. Their home feels personal, with unique items and yet stylish and cozy...boho chic. Swedish homes are very very nice.. but can sometimes feel very IKEA-ish or impersonal😬

I live in Canada but am Finnish. Much of what you spoke of is how we keep our homes. Another one with textiles is homemade rugs or table runners. We always have alot of Birch in our home around (Finlands national tree). Also not going out and buying new things but shopping your home and moving things around. bringing in branches or berries in from the forest as well. 🌍

Hi! I’m from Brazil! I love skandinavian style and it’s perfect for a tropical country, even if I live in São Paulo, which is very hot in summer and cold in winter… my home has all this skandish touches, but with brazilian craftsmanship and handmade fabrics, knitted cushions and linen curtains and some souvenirs from my trips, like porcelain plates, marquetry boxes and candle holders. An international home ☺️. Lots of love from Brazil! 😘🥰❤️

Im norwegian!🌍🇳🇴 All the tips here are really true. We scandinavians do love cosy. And "hygge" dosent have a really great direct translation. But hygge can be a feeling of cosyness. Hygge is warmth, and inviting. And it feels relaxing and comforting. Dont forget other green elements! We can go outdoors, find a small spruce tree. Digg it up with roots. Clean it off. And into a large cylindrical glass vase tilted onto its side.

🌎. I live in Florida, and a vast majority of us try and keep the windows covered. The sunlight causes it to get ever hotter and our light bills go ever higher.
I am all about comfort and cozy.
Thanks and may you have a Blessed day.

Hi from Britain, these ideas are great and I think we are all appreciating nowadays ( especially since Covid ) just how important it is to create the right atmosphere in our homes, and what a difference that makes to us all. It doesn’t have to cost a lot of money either, as these ideas show. 🌎

Hello from Estonia! Lived 20 years in US, but now back home again :) I remember my mom's local artists' blown glass vases always filled with fresh wild flowers in the summer, or green tree branches... And winter with candles every day and night. Cooking from scratch is HUGE too during the dark winter nights. Fun fact - when the sun appears during the winter, then there's a moment of such primal joy that the whole region feels it - the classes in schools can rejoice together! No such joy in California ;)

My husband is from Sweden, but we live in Canada (I'm Canadian). Love these ideas so much! We went to Sweden last summer & there's something about how more people seem to live in the present over there. They really enjoy life!
Hygge is from Denmark. However, Sweden has it's own similar term, called Lagom which means "just right". They like to live in a place of not too much & not too little, which is the BIG difference in North America lol

I like these videos. I love learning about how other cultures decorate their homes. I like the idea of incorporating more light, especially in dark corners. ❤🌎
