I was putting the Position value into the Sample Position of the Sample Nearest Node instead of the Value of the Sample Index Node, so this solved my problem. Thanks!

Thanks for this. What if it’s not a nearest surface but an arbitrary point-to-point position transfer, for example merging two specific points on a mesh where if I use merge by distance I end up merging other points?

Is it possible to use nodes to control the rotation of individual instances on a curve in order to create, for example, an animation of cutting grass?

Cool stuff, I need to copy the velocity from the nearest point on a mesh to a point cloud, any chance I could use this approach? If so how? I'm in blender 3.6 but a bit lost, more used to Houdini.

It's nice. Do you have an idea how to get the position of instances and transfer that attribute to another geometry? Let's say I have 5 lines (1 line and 4 instances) and I have 5 icospheres (1 Icosphere and 4 instances) and I want each of the line endpoints to connect to the origin (midpoint) of the nearest icosphere. So I do not want them to connect to the nearest surface point but to the midpoint. I've been struggling with this for days, but cannot find a solution. Thanks in advance for your help.

Is there a way to get the lines themselves to render? I tried converting to mesh and extruding them but no luck.

Is 3.4 backwards compatible with node systems made in 3.3? I have a huge project with lots of Transfer Attribute nodes and im worried it could break. Does blender automatically add the new nodes where Transf Att once were?
