Let's make sure we're taking good care of ourselves. 🤗🍵 What SELF CARE HABIT do you want to start doing more?

I'm 58 and finally gave up alcohol. I never drank much but I realized that my time off work is important and the effects of one or two glasses of wine and I would feel terrible on the weekend. It's wonderful to wake up refreshed. I'm working on cutting out sugar. I have a lot of inflammation in my body so I have had to make myself much more aware of what I'm putting in my body. Caffeine was a tough one but that's gone too. Thank you for your video!😊

Amazing list with practical suggestions. Instead of "believe in yourself", "love yourself' you offer a blueprint. I used to drink wine almost every day to unwind until it stopped working and I needed a bottle. Now, when I feel an urge, I clean my kitchen or do a skincare routine. Win-win. !

When I retired last year, I began drawing again; it does me a lot of good! When I draw, time passes and I forget everything else.❤

I really appreciate your words on paying attention to what makes us feel good and what makes us feel bad. Things I used to think were treats (wine, sugary things, chips, even coffee) I’m now noticing more and more how crappy I feel afterwards and it’s making me think more about if they’re really worth it anymore.

While the Japanese are known for their cleanliness, a Japanese Youtube minimalist noted there's a Japanese CEO who cleans his toilet every day to stay humble. He also said it is calming. And, yes, it can be something practical that gives us immediate results, immediate gratification. As I get older there are household tasks I can't do comfortably anymore but cleaning the bathroom isn't one of them. Bathrooms and kitchens feel so much better when they are clean and shiny. If only we'd clean up the world, regularly and a little bit at a time....

Great suggestions, I agree with every single one of them!
Also important for me: 1. to stay hydrated. Plain water and herbal tea work best for me, I try to avoid drinks with sugar or artificial sweeteners. And 2. practising deep and conscious breathing for a couple of minutes. This works well for me to de-stress instantly. Plus I can practise while taking a walk, waiting for the bus or cutting vegetables. ☺

Vera, I am turning 63, I had medical help to teach me the way of health. You can read about it all you want but making the mental switch is something else. I drink water now, only have champagne on very special occasions, eat clean simple meals based on vegetables. When I was younger I took my great health for granted. After menopause things changed for me. I am grateful for this light 💡 bulb moment. I feel better, calmer, more intentional than I’ve ever felt. Bore-out is a new concept to me. I think back to times I was in bore-out. Usually I got out of it planning a big travel experience. I love to travel. Hope to visit your country one day soon in the spring or summertime. Thank you Vera! 😊❤️

Great tips, Vera.
When I start rumination at bed time, I try to remember that there's absolutely nothing I can do about it right now. It doesn't always work, though.
I'm happy for you coming out of Winter. I'm wired backward and have Summertime SAD. Heat is unbearable for me and I feel imprisoned by air conditioning. If the power goes out in Summer I go into full-blown panic and fear of an outage is a constant worry. I'm always invigorated in Winter.

Bore-out is very common for the elderly and the handicapped. I am both. I've been trying some different things to bring more joy into my life. It can make a tremendous difference in how I feel about life. Thank you Vera!❤

I‘m an INFJ too and thats how I came across your channel a while back. I totally relate with the to do list thing - I also am writing down stuff I need to do and then feel overwhelmed by the list and only do the things that are faster done than the others or that I enjoy more. The others feel like a burdain but if we do the tasks that are burdening us first, we will feel more relieved afterwards! Thank you for your video it really helps 🩷

This video really helped me this morning. I didn't sleep well last night and so I am tired today. I was struggling with just getting started with my day. As soon as I heard your voice it remind me of the importance of taking care of myself, which brought tears to my eyes. I needed to reconnect with my feelings, and that helped me. So, BIG thank you to you! 🥰

Thank you for another great video. For my self care I love a hot bath with a good book. I would also say that your videos are now a part of my self care - they are so calming. ❤

Oh and I forgot in my other comment, what really helps me is being mindful with my phone. It usually takes me out of the moment as the phone is an easy door to every other (albeit virtual) reality than the one I'm currently in. And in that way, it's very tempting to always seek for a more 'exciting' reality than the one I'm actually in, that I'm actually experiencing. This constant option to 'opt out' of any real moment that might seem a little 'normal', bland or simply quiet makes it hard to focus on what's actually going on in reality. I want to make 'opting out' of reality more difficult for me, which is why I do the following things:
-no notification sounds > I go to my phone when I want to and if it's urgent people can call me
-shortcut on screen to turn screen black&white > makes the phone more of a tool than a toy
-put my phone in a drawer/box so that I don't see it all day and get tempted
-have a digital alarm clock instead of using the phone
😊

One of my self-care activities is walking after work to clear my mind. Recently, I started listening to your videos during my walks. The combination of your calm voice, the soothing background music, and your insights on self-care makes my walking time even more peaceful and enjoyable. ❤

Hi Vera! I just came off a thirty day no buy and wow what a difference now in my spending. I no longer desire to buy, buy, buy. Thank you so much for this. I am starting an exercise regimen this week. Not an exercise person so look forward to the change.

I'd not heard of bore-out, but then again I'm grateful that I don't usually get bored and that's despite having a very small and repetitive life! Of course the downside of that is that I don't always have that inner push to get out of my comfort zone which can be limiting. Despite the routine nature of my life, I wake up eager to get up and get on with engaging with my interests and my same old routines which bring me pleasure and comfort.

I loved the pictures you selected of the sleeping animals!!! Especially the cat as they have an almost magical power of making whatever they are sleeping on seem so comfortable and cosy 😊

I've been using your tip of not engaging with worries during the evening when feeling tired, but delaying them till the next morning, for a while now and it has been so incredibly helpful. I now realise that once it has gone dark outside, I'm just not able to properly deal with concerns and worries and 99% of the time those concerns are not something that need to be resolved or attended to during the evening, so I set them aside as best as I can and focus on doing enjoyable, soothing and comforting things. It works wonders and I've recommended it to a number of people.

I'm glad to hear some spring weather has arrived where you are, we too have been enjoying some gorgeous spring weather the past couple of weeks, with sunny and mild weather and my village is filled with daffodils and primroses and the first few blossoms are appearing on some trees - and the birds have become louder and much happier sounding, which is such a treat.

I was excited to hear you've been filming a vlog for Patreon! I love your vlogs, so am super looking forward to it when it's posted. Wishing you a fantastic and beautiful week. ☺

Habit 4 is huge! I love quiet time on walks but even that sometimes feels like too much "doing" so i do want to try making more time for quiet and still moments
