We “start” our dishwasher after it’s loaded after dinner but we put it on a couple hour delay so if we need to add more we can. But if we don’t, it will start on its own and be done for us to empty in the morning either way!

Laundry is super time-consuming when you don't have a dryer. I live in Europe and (like a lot of people here), I hang all of our clothes. It takes time to dry especially in the winter so I can't do a load every day since I would have nowhere to hang the wet clothes.
What works best for us is simply having less things. Less clothes, less toys, less plates, less silverware, less... everything. If you have less in your home, you have less on your mind.

I am a mother of five boys 12yrs to 18 months. I have my kids do their own laundry. One person’s load per day, everyone their own day of the week. The boy do their clothes for the week along with their own bath towel, sheets, or coat. Which ever needs washing. They choose. This way I personally only complete three loads a week because of this system - my clothing, my husband’s, and baby. No sorting at all, and for some in our house no folding. ☺️ Makes each persons job really quick! Any extra rags I throw in the wash are each child’s responsibility to toss in the kitchen rag drawer. We love how this works!

I heard the phrase "kitchen reset" a month ago, and I love it. Sounds more fun than "cleaning your kitchen". Then when you wake up, you can have that blissful cup of coffee in your organized, put-together space.

If you’re wondering if you should do a more detailed video on the 5 minute deep cleaning tasks, the answer is yes 😂

This is a great video ❤

We always wash the dishes before lunch. Since we have a double sided sink, I have a bucket filled with soapy water where I put all of the sippy cups and silicone plates etc ... to soak (I worked in daycare and you wouldn't believe how fast milk spoils and molds in a sippy cup, this method prevents that). Then my toddler gets to "wash" all of the toddler safe items on the left side of the sink while I wash all of the breakable items on the right side of the sink. It works out really well. We also unload the dishwasher together, all the toddler safe items have homes on the lower cabinets where they can be reached easily. It works well for us.

Great video! I’ve recently realized the benefits of these types of little habits. Instead of only having “cleaning time”, I see what little things can be done throughout the day. I definitely do the clean up while food is simmering/cooking. My kids empty the dishwasher as part of their before school routine, and yes, it DOES take hundreds or thousands of reminders before they do it unprompted…but that’s parenting. Saying the same thing thousands of times til it sticks, and not giving up!

In Australia we rarely use the dryer. We love to help the environment so we hang our clothes on the washing line. I do what I learned in Asia. I hang my clithes on a rack on my undercover deck. Then if it rains it doesn't get wet if it's dry!

This video is PURE PERFECTION! What a great job putting all this together! Congratulations, and thank you so so much! I was doing just some of them and you just encouraged me to not only keep doing them but to add all of the others! Great video! Thank you again!

Re the washcloths in the bathrooms - I just have a Swedish dish cloth - usually hanging in the shower, so that when the counters get wet I just grab it, wipe it up, wring it and then it’s good to go. No need to go through a ton of wash cloths (or toilet paper if you’re like me) to keep the sink counter dry :)

This is good advice. The little bits do add up and houses that people live in are messy and that means there is life there so lets stop beating ourselves up for the messes. Messes mean we are raising little souls. This is good and pleasing to God.

This are amazing tips, I follow a couple of them already to prevent overwhelm in my life already, but it's good to hear about all the other ones. Your house is so spacious and beautiful, I wish all house kitchens where that big so we could all actually clean our pots/pans properly 😂

I follow the "if it takes less than 1 minute do it now" rule and the "never leave a room with an empty hand" rule.

Little rules like this go a long way to keep the chaos at bay. Im a real maximalist, so i need systems and rules to keep me sane.

Your video was fresh! I loved the ideas for getting A.I. to make those lists for us! I can't wait to watch next video!

Really been trying to be better at these things! Saw a video of the concept of different you’s. So each morning you wake up to a different version of yourself, maybe todays You just isn’t going to workout like you planned or will eat cereal for dinner. So that each day you should make sure things are taken care of beforehand, like a restaurant closing for the night to a new person doing the day shift. You clean and tidy so that they have a good start. If you have a clean house or you mealprep or do something good each day, the You that is going to do tomorrow’s schedule gets a head start. I live alone but I should think of that I live with different people and doing my part of the cleaning will help “everyone”, especially the Me who wakes up tomorrow with a slight headache or something.

I personally wear pjs for a few nigjts before washing them! As I shower at night I get more wear out of them before needing to wash them.

Found your channel after my 3x weekly cleaner quit on me with no notice. I decided the universe was prompting me to take a deep dive into minimalism! Your videos have left me feeling so much more confident about looking after my own home. It's not as scary as I thought it would be! You've helped me make a huge mindset adjustment about homemaking after having stepped back from teaching to start a family. And lastly, I'm a born and bred Indiana girl living in Egypt for the last 15 years, so your videos feel like a taste of home. Thank you for all of it!
