I camp alone, three times a year, at an altitude of about 7000 feet. I do five days. My body adjusts after about 30 hours. I always feel so good when I come back (for many other reasons, as well)

When I was around 12 years old I couldn’t swim but one summer I went to the public swimming pools with a friend. All I did was swimming under water close to the edge. So many many times under water holding my breath. After that summer, when I played football/soccer again I was in the form of my life. I could just run and sprint all the time without feeling fatigued.

If you are training for Olympics. Go to a tall mountain and train. It will make a difference and is within the rules

Almost died at high altitude. Went from Texas to CO 12500 feet on little bear or whatever mountain it was named, and nearly died no joke.

Lesson of the story is: know your company and do your own research. Don’t just rely on friends to have your best interests in mind when you know them to be immature.

this is the key idea in Dr.Butheyko''s breathing method - to improve oxygenation of your cells / tissues / organs without training in high level altitude. It is the oposite of hyperventilation...👍💪

I lived at 6500 feet in Tehachapi, CA. I could tell the difference the high altitude made in my body.

There are also other adaptations that shift the oxygen-haemoglobin dissociation curve, stemming from HIF expression (although I don't remember the details off the top of my head).

What about freedivers who hold breath for like 15 minutes and swim underwater at the same time? Is it the same mechanism?

Quran talks about this scientific situation. Whoever Allah wills to guide, He opens their heart to Islam.1 But whoever He wills to leave astray, He makes their chest tight and constricted as if they were climbing up into the sky. This is how Allah dooms those who disbelieve. Surah Enam Ayah 125. How can prophet Muhammed(pbuh) know that people would go up the sky 1400 years ago ?
