This is a great tip for those who charge by the hour

Excellent tip. Worth it for the person that wants to not screw up.

those valves are meant to have some play in the depth. like if you put it on a 2x4 flush with the back of a 2x4 stud, its gonna work, just like being on a 1x4 flush with a 2x6 stud. it does not matter. personally, i prefer a 1x6 flush with a 2x4 stud

Still haven’t found an actual helpful video on installing a valve without the shower walls needing to be perfect 2x4 studs

Does it matter which side of the transfer valve is capped? I want my shower wand on the left.

Brilliant! That’s what I should have done.

One question? Is it safe to use sharkbites when doing plumbing on shower?

Thats ridiculous....tape measure works just fine

So you want the finished wall to be flush with the silver piece on the valve

This is a good idea, especially if it’s a higher end project you’re working with. This is a good tip.

Years ago ( for walls) I installed durock, sealed the inside corners and butt joints with silicone. Installed the tile, grouted and used grouting caulk for inside corners. 30 years later I'm still doing the same procedure. I stay year round busy on 100 percent on referrals meaning no callbacks for leaks. While the waterproofing products may work, the cost can price you out of the job.

Are u able to get the bonnet nut off of the shower valve. Video makes it look like the tile is flush with the outer surface of the bonnet but, If so how would u ever unscrew it to service the valve. Just curious

If I'm not using tile should the sheetrock be flush with the diverter valve

As in, even if you're a fool you can't mess it up.
