In this video we do a quick run through of the Delta Monitor shower valve cartridge replacement. We discuss the steps of replacing while sharing tips, tricks and share the links below for the seats and springs as well as the cartridge replacements. The aftermarket cartridge is less than half price so I tried it simply to test and see how it works. I have used mine over a dozen times now and it works very well. I also share a link for the OEM Delta cartridge if you rather use the name brand replacement. Hope you find the information helpful and thanks for watching!

A plumber wanted to charge me 500.00 and replace the whole valve because he said the cartridge was too old and would break off in there and it would be too hard to just replace the cartridge. I told him I’d get a second opinion…it took me 15 minutes and 80.00 bucks at the Home depot to fix it after watching this video! And no more leaks!!! Thanks and may God bless you!❤️

I work as a handyman and I'm always learning new things. Doing a replacement of this exact valve for a coworker. Gotta say, once I heard the southern accent, I knew I'd be walking away a smarter man. Thanks dude.

I really appreciated this video. There are many videos about how to replace the cartridge, but this is the only one that answered all of my questions as a 78-year old widow with no plumbing experience. The most important thing was putting in the cartridge and not trying to force the little triangular tabs into place, but rather hand tightening the bonnet to do the job. Shower no longer drips! Thank you!

This is for anyone that runs into the kind of problems I did. Cartridge WOULD NOT come out. Finally the flange around the the ports that hold the seals & springs broke away and the stem assembly came out. Clamped onto the ports with needle nose vise grips. After much effort the port assembly came out far enough I could grab it with channel locks from the side. Never did see what was holding it. Luckily there was no significant damage to the valve body and none to the connecting plumbing, so a new cartridge solved the problem. Hopefully, I'm the only one that experiences this. Thanks to Thrifty Tool Shed for showing me what I was dealing with.

Thank you so much! I would NEVER would have figured this out myself. This may be the most helpful YouTube video I've seen. I did go with a knock off replacement. But, what the Heck! I can now easily install a new Delta Cartridge if the cheap one fails! Thanks again!

This video was incredibly helpful. I was convinced I had the wrong cartridge because it would not go in. Once I applied the plumbers grease and wiggled it with pressure it went in. Also, great info on the bonnet nut being hand tightened. The one I took off was tightened with a wrench. Thank you!

If only you had mentioned the correct orientation of the springs during the step by step instructions and not afterwards, as a matter of fact. I think this video would be perfect. Well, I'm off to try this again lol

Many thanks for this video. I ordered a Delta replacement (NOT a knock off), and it took me about 30 minutes for the whole process. Excellent work !!

Thanks for the video. The job is a lot easier than it seemed at first. Thankfully this fixed my slow leak, no more mold strips in the bottom of my shower!

I have replaced 10 of these in my home over 20 plus years and on number 11 it would not slide in like the previous times. I had cleaned, lubed and still a no go. Using the brass bonnet to inch it in was the key. Thank you for this video and saving the headache.

Great video, pretty easy fix. The first step you need to do is call Delta and talk to customer service. Delta has a lifetime warranty on all faucets. They will send you the replacement cartridge for free, a$60-$75 value. Just talked with them today while dealing with a leaky shower that was installed 24 years ago. Was on the phone for 5 minutes and they are shipping me a new cartridge today!

A quick thanks ... your video helped me get the job done without too much stress. I had to use a Strap Wrench, but finally got that bonnet nut loose. Thanks again!

Thank you, thank you, thank you. This video was a life saver. I had no idea how to fix the dripping. I had no idea these taps of cartilages. Thank you for talking about the difference between cartilages depending upon the year as well. That was huge. My show no longer drips. Thank you.

Thanks for posting this, especially the part number. My Delta is a late 90’s vintage and 19804 fit even though the package said 2006 or later. I only had to shut the water off for about 4 minutes. Much appreciated.

Just want to say EXCELLENT video. From the 2 different types of replacement and pictures. I brought the cartridge to Home Depot and they couldn’t even really help. My cartridge broke from the handle and it came apart in 2 pieces but with vice grip I got it out but just came off in pieces. Amazing video overall. $100 in just parts and about 2-3 hours with going to the store and just taking my time as it was my first time.

I just rather go with delta parts as if they lasted this long I hope it would last as long as before. Also believe it broke off with also kids playing with it too.
