Thank you man! I forgot to take pics when uninstalling, got pulled on another chore, and when I returned I said, “Shoot! Did the spring go in first or the seat?”😂 Your video was perfect 👍🏽. S/O from Richmond, VA👊🏽

Your video is literally the only one on YouTube, that shows which end of the spring should be upward. Thank you for the attention to this detail. Bought stems at Ace hardware (their own Ace product) and when I turn on the water, the metal on the base/ bottom of the stem keeps catching the top of the Danco seat and slicing into it at an angle. Took me a while to figure this out. Just wanted to give a heads up on this issue. Ace products have really dropped in quality over the years.

Only vid I could find that really shows how to place the spring and seat correctly! Others just gloss over it. If you don't get this step right, none of the other steps matter.

Thumbs Up 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍. thank you for easing my mind. Your video is literally the only one on YouTube, that shows which end of the spring should be upward. I took ours apart and the hot was opposite spring direction of the cold and i was really confused then. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

I don't think it matters which side the spring faces. We have been putting the wider side in the seat (it fits around the spring..usually) and it works.

Great quick video. Just FYI, "straight" is spelled wrong.

Old plumbers trick.... It's almost impossible to get it to stay where you need it in a shower situation where the valve lays on its side !!! Here's the trick, cover the seat and spring with Flux or Thread Sealer... Its sticks the seat in the right location and holds it there on the spring while you push the valve on...Your Welcome !!!

I did that but I can’t get the seat to go in all the way. It’s not flush; keeps getting pushed out by the spring it seems.

Getting the oring to seat properly is a huge pain if you have big hands. This is a bad design. The back seat should be part of the replaceable insert. I’m tempted to beak out the SLA printer and make a better design.
